The head "owner" of the Dominican Republic: Juan Hubieres.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Thousands of commuters were left stranded in and around the capital early Friday morning when the bus owners group Fenatrano staged a unannounced walkout.
"What’s happening now in the Capital is that there’s a 3-hour transport strike that was already pre-announced as a result of the abuses which the OTTT (government transport agency) has allowed and instead of mediating in the conflict what it has done is to force us, with threats, to cancel the routes," said Fenatrano president Juan Hubieres.
He said the authorities aren’t interested in a dialogue to solve the conflict between the OTTT and the bus drivers.
You will have noticed in a call " Government in the morning " that to the 9:30 a.m. a commission will go to the OTTT to deposit a document.
Many passengers have had to walk or hitchhike in different parts of the National District, as the ensuing chaos in mass transit has left thousands without a way to get to work.
“We are growing tired of these drivers, I must get to work and I’m late," complained a woman at the busy Duarte highway intersection known as Kilometro 9.
Bus drivers, dubbed “the country’s owners,” often resort to surprise walkouts to press the Government, which usually gives in to their demands.

DR needs a Port Authority w/ Port Authority Police like NYC has..... Let's Cancel Drivers Liscence of all bus drivers that went on strike and create NEW bus routes with Government payed drivers. If the unliscenced drivers want to continue driving they have to take a refresher course, sign a contract and be drug free ......LETS NATIONALLIZE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont worry, socialism and Uncle Hugo have been drilling the Leo puppet in that direction for some time now and the bus is almost parked in the garage .

I wouldn't go that far, only the infrastructure. We need better service for the people.

The Obama puppet is now in the same bed as Hugo and Leonel and except on paper, America is rapidly becoming a socialist nation in the name of global economic survival . The goal of socialism is to seek the '' so called good'' of society as a whole through nationalization . The world economy is so bad right now that if even a one time soveriegn power house like Uncle Sam cant stand on his own , how much more does a third world island need the international community to stay afloat ?

Josean,
Through your logic I agree.

Elcapitin, were you involved in the Bahroa incident with the journalists also ? This is the classic Dominican response to any unacceptable incident or unresolved crisis in an attempt to get big brother out of his recliner and actually start earning his paycheck . Truth be told , it may actually take the whole country to participate in this ritual of rebellion at the same time before you get these politicians to believe that these wolf crys are more than just smoke signals from the teepee and a preview of whats to come.
