Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez, as also president of the PLD party met Saturday with the organization’s leaders who are hopefuls to its presidential candidacy, and pledged to work together for the midterm elections of May 16, 2010.
In the gathering which lasted almost two hours, held in the chief executive’s apartment on Mexico avenue, the PLD leaders agreed that their priority was to maintain unity and take the PLD to another electoral win.
Danilo Medina, Francisco Javier Garcia, Franklin Almeyda, Jose Tomas Perez and Radhamés Segura attended the meeting, whereas Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal said he had a previous engagement outside the city.
Fernandez said the PLD maintains its trajectory as a united party, a factor he said has been one of its strengths and a key to win a new electoral challenge.
To select the candidates to congressional and municipal posts, the PLD chose a regulation and the consensus among its senior leaders.
The presidential candidacy hopefuls agreed that their main task is to bolster unity and work to win the majority in Congress and the City councils.

You scum.
They have to "bolster unity". They need all this corruption talk to go away.
Imagine having a government system that is so corrupt that one can not say anything bad about the other, because they would both be exposed.
Can’t someone record and/or film Segura’s nepotism/corruption and send it to the international media?
These guys are not geniuses, I am sure they admit it every day.
They wear their corruption as a badge of macho honor.
