The individual is the ultimate sovereign in a society.

When the government becomes despotic, uncaring, corrupt and refuses to address their demands they have the right to get those demands met by whatever means necessary.

One always hopes that change would be non violent, but even violence is permitted to liberate once sell from tyranny: The American Revolution and the French Revolution just to name two examples.

So a little take over of what probably is an inefficient and ineffective bureaucratic building, is small prize to pay for getting attention to the miserable conditions the health care professionals face every day in DR and by consequence and more importanty their patients.

A country so devoid of credible leadership and integrity, that any time a prominent or semi-prominent individual would make a logical and ordinary comment relative to corruption, inequities, etc, the clamor for such individuals to be postulated for high office immediately follows.

This practice is so deeply woven into Dominican thinking, that it is fundamental to the perpetual cycle of corruption and inept governments.

Really, let's get to know these individuals a bit better, before we nominate and elect them to high office.

Please note that no disrespect is intended to anyone commenting on story-really.

Josi,

First off they are Doctors. They should shut up at take care of their patients. They have no moral right to protest for more money nor do they have the right to disturb the peace.

Now as to your statement..."When the government becomes despotic, uncaring, corrupt and refuses to address their demands they have the right to get those demands met by whatever means necessary."
Then Fernandez will have to wait. Mugabe, Castro, Kim Jung Il, Chavez, Evo, Zelaya, Ortega and Correa are father up on the list of despots that need to be toppled.

Gusanito,

You have the right to go to Cuba and take arms up against Fidel, just like he had the cojones to do against your idol Batista, rather than wasting your time on the computer and following the NASCAR circuit.

The Russians overthrew the soviet state and they have nukes, I am sure you brave guys from Florida could do the same even though you couldn't save Elian Gonzalez!
