Santo Domingo. – A respected ruling party leader and one of its founders on Friday admitted the presence of corruption in the Dominican Government, but affirmed that the crime also affects the three branches of the State.

Euclides Gutiérrez Felix argued that corruption isn’t exclusive to the Dominican Republic, since that crime is also in highly developed countries, and in nations with strong governments, such as Cuba and China, which have had corrupt officials. “In China they execute a corrupt official every week and it’s no longer done in Cuba because of the United States pressure, but corruption also exists.”

The Insurance Superintendent also justified that the PLD party has discarded the teachings of its founder Juan Bosch, affirming that circumstances inside and outside the Dominican Republic have changed.

Gutierrez, a member of the PLD’s Political Committee, affirmed that although he admits that there’s corruption in president Leonel Fernandez’s Administration, denies that it’s the most corrupt government in Dominican history.

He defended Fernandez, affirming that he has been a good president, who has headed a good government which has built many works.

“There’s corruption in the three branches of the State; in the Government (Executive), in the Legislative, which is the first power of the State, which must audit, it has a little barrel and the senators manage almost two million pesos per month with the help they receives,” he said.

The official criticized the Judicial Branch, affirming that 80 percent of judges are linked to the opposition PRD party, and that Supreme Court president Jorge Subero wasn’t the Justice originally selected for the post, as Fernandez was deceived in the negotiations subsequent to the reforms of 1994.

I very much doubt if this guy has much idea of anything outside this country and seems that he is just trying to say that his party is no worse than the other ,,,which is why this country needs a new party in power that is not tainted with this take what we can mentality

He missed the other four branches that are fully corrupted: The industrial sector, the church, the military, and the Dominican society!

In other words yes there is corruption, we know about it, we know where it is and probably who as well but as it is no worse than elsewhere we don't intend to do anything about it. What an admission and condemnation of the attitudes of those in power.

YES it is a total condemnation of the governmental administration here ..to merely say that another party appointed various officials in the judiciary and departments is to show how ill suited this person is for public office ..The corruption can be reduced to a trickle very easily as was done in Indonesia. Phillipines ,India and in Peru and Chile ..it just takes zero tolerance from the government.

you want to see real corruption, look up Barack Hussein Obama's birht certificate. He wasn't even born in the United states. For the democrats to let that sly, now that is corruption. The most corrupt party in the worlds history.

It is, and will always be, the status quo until a president with balls, and some help, gets elected and works very very hard to enforce the laws that currently exist to fight it. I think at least one or two non-corrupt candidates might be able to be found but at this point I'm not sure.

ambioriv use a little a more common sense and actually look at facts before posting false claims like that. It is proven he is a US citizen born in Hawaii. That post is a good example of how easily uneducated people can be convinced of something which is 100% false. If you cannot see the constant corruption in all branches and among 80% (trying to give those 2/10 the benefit of the doubt even though its probably higher) of the people with any ability to be corrupt you are lying to yourself. Some of us Dominicans have a brain and an education and use both.

YEa right, i'm gonna believe the undeniable facts that the Main stream media is giving you right. Just like the undeniable facts that Saddam hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Or how Obama was gonna be the candidate for change but has done absolutely nothing differently than any other president. The list goes on and on. The people in that main stream media are no doubt in on the whole thing if not paid to do as others want them to say and not really reporting. T jis is obvious on how they keep showing a peace of paper and keep mentioning how it is a birth certificate when in fact it is not, it is a certificate of live birth. And they never have mentioned not even once how obama has spent over a million dollars to prevent him self from showing his birth certificate.

calling a certificate of live birth a birth certificate is a real problem. and an obvious lie.

and how about the trillions of dollars that the banks are receiving from the obama administration. I mean their making more in bonuses than in profits. If that's not corruption i dont know what is. And it is never mentioned in the mainstream media. S o please you need to use common sense and realize that the sysytem is more corrupt than you will ever realize. Look up the birth certificate case a little more and you will see the truth. Truth shall set you free
