SANTO DOMINGO.- Foreign companies based in the country, contracted by the State-owned electrical companies (CDEEE), in turn signed contracts with the private company owned by its director Radhamés Segura, in violation of Law 120-01 on Government Ethics, a report by the journalist Nuria Piera says.

During the 1998-2000 period, when Segura was administrator of the CDEEE, he contracted Siemens for the construction of electrical substations, but that German company contracted the company Empresa de Energía Eléctrica (ENEL), property of the official, for the construction of the facilities San Pedro II, Timbeque II, Juan Dolio and Puerto Plata II.

The official’s private company also signed other contracts, one just one month after leaving he post and one year that after signed another with the same foreign company.

Also in 2007 the company Ag of Germany was contracted by Punta Cana Macao for the construction of a substation.

According to Piera’s report which aired Saturday, the fact that Segura maintains his company operating at the same time as his government post breaks the ethics law because of conflict of interest.

The systemic crisis of the Dominican electric power sector is similar in one aspect to the crisis of the United States. Politicians have sequestered the electric power industry and are making the industry collapse. Please take a look at the article "The Deadly Sin of State Regulators on the Smart Grid," posted at the link http://www.energyblogs.com/ewpc/i....tate-Regulators-on-the-Smart-Grid

"What is the problem? That is the Dominican way". Segura says, " I do this, BECAUSE I CAN ! "

Money & Greed, that is what it is all about !! I am now certain, LF and Segura have something going on together. LF states, "Segura, you steal, give me my commission and I will protect you. The stupid public can't do anything to us. I am the President !"

LF, be very careful.....and just remember one word....."ZELAYA" !

Nothing will happen, this is not news to L.F., he had his cut as well. $ went to the campaign cofers or to his pockets too.

Unlike other places no one here (DR) takes one for the team or falls on his sword. Radames is sure they will just ignore the subject. LF is too busy trying to save "democracy" in Honduras.

Hey LF how about trying to save the DR.

I have raved and ranted about this lieing thief for a long time. You have to admire his nerve to blatantly lie, cheat and steal in full view of all. And you really have to appreciate his arrogance, his "Yes, I am a lieing thief, but other people do it also, so that makes it OK", reasoning.

Majority of the politicos (all Parties) who are in office have big monies invested somewhere in there private lifes. Once they obtain the votes or kiss there way up to a postion in Gov., there personal interests or investments become priority #1, all others wait on line or pay upfront.......thats also the same thing that is happening in the Cement Plant issue, another politico cashing in on his personal future investments. The next ruling Party will also do the same thing over, over, and over again thats "The Dominican Way". Thats what Goverment is all about me, me and only me.

Yeah, hear hear. Some editorial comments from other news outlets regarding Sr. Segura:

Guess we are all wrong, he's a real working class hero!!!
