The cocaine seized at Matanzas.
Zoom Picture

Santo Domingo.- Peravia province (south) prosecutor said Tuesday the United States Navy seamen will work on the recovery of the aircraft which went down in the Caribbean and sank off the coast of the town Matanzas, where at least 122 kilos of cocaine were seized.

Roberto Lugo said the authorities are sure that the plane came from Colombia, and that no one has been arrested in relation to the case so far.

He affirmed that drug airdrops are an old problem in that region and that the authorities are working to halt the practice.

Everyone keep looking at where the plane sank...while 500 others fly over your heads and successfully complete their missions.

In the early 90s I remember watching a plane drop packages near the beach in Matanzas, Bani. I also remember seen 2 strange men heavily armed with long weapons there too, near where I saw that plane. Those beaches are wide open.

Why is the USN involved in this planes recovery?

Juango, the US Navy is involved because they have the equipment and training that we don't have. This is what we get for not investing in security as we should. Personally, I think we should be making all the equipments (vehicles, weapons, etc) we need right here at home. Our country is so amazing that it is prohibited to make weapons at home (even for the exclusive use of the military), BUT it is legal to import them to sell to civilians! As a proud nationalist, I would rather have the bullet, the gun powder, and the gun used to kill me be made in the RD haha.
