SANTO DOMINGO.- The Justice Minister on Tuesday said he’ll proceed without contemplation if there’s corruption in the State-owned Electric Companies CDEEE as journalist Nuria Piera denounced in her television program ‘Nuria’.
Radhamés Jiménez said the Anti-Corruption Department (DPCA) will investigate the allegation regardless of the consequence to CDEEE vice-president Radhamés Segura or to the lowliest of employees.
At the beginning of June the Dominican Alliance against Corruption (Adocco) filed a complaint against Segura in the DPCA, after Piera’s report, which uncovered nepotism and alleged corruption in the entity.
The official spoke to reporters prior to the presentation of the Inter-institutional Commission to Combat High Tech Crimes.

He admitted to nepotism, he gives money to friends of NGOs with the electrical sector dying.
He raised the price of electricity and he is giving money away.

How about his son's girl friend that is not qualified and does not show up?
You people have to get a grip, this is wrong on many levels.
And NO, because others do it, is NOT an excuse.

It is a sad state of affairs when the judicial system only threatens to move after a television program does and exposé that even people on MARS knew was going on.
This is a Failed State a 1,000 x 1,000!
Why hasn’t Lie-onel Fernandez demanded this self admitted thief his resignation?

josean,,you may have missed the information that a close relation of Leonel was somehow receiving money though I think he was in the USA so Leonel will do nothing ..Although I have been a supporter of Leonel mainly because he has worked hard to attract foreign investment I became very very disillutioned after the appalling Presidential pardons and now his empty promises to have zero tolerance on corruption..if he decided to take a strong stand this country would go ahead leaps and bounds.
I just do not understand why the Dpca is taking so long ...guess the water is being muddied in the meantime and much evidence lost

a Dominican friend of mine said to me on Sunday last that the Dominican Republic will never change, because it is exactly what it was meant to be. it is a virtual fiefdom, with a bunch of criminals presiding over a destitute mass of people, who are in dire straits. the education system will never improve, because it keeps the masses in their places as consumers, voters, and cheap labor. as long as the highlight of their lives is to go to the car wash every 15th and 30th of the month, engorge themseles with liquor, dance the night away, impregnate and get pregnant, all is well with the ruling classes. the people see corruption as something to emulate, and therefore do not rise up against thugs like Segura, because they do not see his actions as being unprincipled. they are like the poorest of Americans, who support tax breaks for the richest. why do they do it, you ask? because they all believe that they will soon win the lottery, and do not want to fall victim to tax increases.

similarly, my friend opines, the long grey line of Dominican humanity fantasises about the day when they will be in a position to avail themselves of similar unjust enrichment, and, therefore, see nothing wrong with the likes of Radhames.

If anyone believes that there will be any type of prosecution from this......I'd like to interest you in some real estate in Santiago....which, of course, you may or may not own by the time you finish paying for it.

And if anything does happen to Segura, I'm sure he'll get a get out of jail free card from Lie-onel aka "The people's champion of Honduras." This whole situation just curls my stomach.

She also need to look at some of the other power companies within the country, like CEPP. Marcos Patron has his family working all over the company. From purchasing to accounts payable to other admistrative postitions within the company. There she will find how Marcos is stealing the money from the company and filling his and all his family pockets. This country is a mess and will take decades to get out of this type of postition......

Press report from Panama :-You know this developer Figali? He had a concession from the government to build a marina at the Amador Causeway. But he overstepped the terms of the contract and took twice as much land as his concession had allowed for. The former president told him to stop, but Figali continued. He even erected a metal fence around the area so no one could really see what he was up to.
"Well, yesterday, President Martinelli, in jeans and a work shirt, went to the construction site himself and with his own hands tore down the metal fence and erected a sign saying, 'Property Of The State.'
"Then he posted police guards. 'Whoever comes here, whether it is Figali or anyone else,' President Martinelli said, 'put him in prison. Scoundrels will not tell us what to do.'"

Off topic I know but here is a President with a "Zero Tolerence" policy and the will to been seen putting it into effect. Anyone want to bet on see Leonel doing the same!!

corruption here is hard to prove and harder to bring to justice....specially when everyone at the top has their hands in the cookie jar.... i bet they'll decide on 'its just poor business management, nothing corrupt about paying 40 friends and family just a bad business decision' so he's not guilty on corruption.
