SANTO DOMINGO.- Public Health minister Bautista Rojas on Tuesday said the two nurses and five doctors who were filmed punching Moscoso Puello hospital director doctor Roberto Lafontaine had been fired, but fell short of filing charges against them.
Among those fired is the head of the Dominican Medical Guild (CMD) in the National District, doctor Rufino Senén Caba, and the residents Erick Antonio Fabian and Augusto de los Santos, for violating Health Law 42-01 on ethics and discipline.
Lafontaine was beaten Monday morning when CMD leaders tried to prevent some doctors whom they define as strike breakers from providing consultations for the patients.

This is the justice, transparency and morality of the PLD at work; fire those that contribute to society and keep on the payroll those that steal from it!
Dr Bosch must be rolling in his grave.
¡Eh Pa’ Lante Que Vamos!
Would a PRD government be any better? Based on past performances we all know that it would be MUCH worse. The current PLD government is a bunch of lieing thieves. The previous PRD government was a stupid lieing bunch of thieve.
The majority of the people in DR doesn’t belong nor identify with any of the three criminal enterprises called PLD, PRD and PRSC; which currently only exist on paper since it ate up the PLD.
A mob lynched an alleged criminal who was would have been surprised stealing in a house on the Jose Contreras Avenue in the La Julia section of the capital. This is the fourth known case so far this year that has had fatal consequences for the suspect thief. It is a phenomenon that according to experts is caused by the generalized feeling of insecurity, due on the one hand to rising crime and on the other to the weakness of the justice system.
Yesterday in Santiago, another man was seriously injured when a mob tried to lynch him under the suspicion that they were dealing with a thief trying to steal in the Cienfuegos barrio.
Only a ignorant, arrogant, self-absorbed, blind commie would even try to defend the violent acts of those, so-called, doctors and nurses.
Then people ask me why I stopped doing business in the DR.
I believe this is a microcosm of the general feelings pervading dominican society at all layers.
I believe greater chaos should soon follow and reach exponential proportion.
People are clearly fed up with things the way they are, and not willing to take it anymore.
God help DR!
We already have enough shoe shine boys, thank you very much!
