Funny thing is that I knew Cabarete long before all of you foreigners discovered it, when it was a quaint Dominican village, for Dominicans, with great local foods and flavor....when everything didn't cost and arm and a leg.

During the summers, when I spent time at family beach house in Puerto Plata, we would visit Cabarete on some weekends to go to the beach or to fish. We would enjoy coconut water and carne frita and tostones, etc.

See, I am a born Dominican-100 % second generation Dominican and, in spite of fact I have been neglectful in visiting the last couple of dozen years, there is not very much a newby foreigner could teach me about my country. One has to wonder......Before bail is even set, I would think a complete criminal back round check is conducted with the U.S Dept. of Justice such as prior arrest records, plus the possibility of a flight risk.
My question would be was that Bond paid with USD or property in the DR ? again one has to wonder was there money set aside for such an event or emergency ? and was that bond money or property Drug profits from past Smuggling ? Mrios, I think the Dominican Law Enforcement Community needs more training and technicality in how to deal with this type of issues especially in the area of the court system. I personally think there is bias involved in here. But not because the Dominican Authority is racist toward non Dominican its more inclined into the profitability of this business. The blue eyes and Blond hair still apply because in the Dominican mentality still exist that if you (blue eyes and blond hair you are not a drug dealer or a criminal). I traveled in 1996 and i was stopped at custom at Puerto Plata and was asked for my mother maiden name. I told the custom officer that i no longer have such a long last name in my American passport.So he put me aside. Then i proceeded to show him my police badge and he still gave me problems until i complained that i was going to get in touch with my employer in U.S.
