Santo Domingo.– President Leonel Fernandez requested the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP)
to condemn the coup d'état against Manuel Zelaya and support democracy, and rejected the statements from
Honduran businessmen who called his proposal as "dirty and opportunistic."
According to
a statement issued by the Presidential Press Department, the Dominican Head of State's proposal was that the suspension from the Central American Free Trade Agreement with the United States lasts until
constitutional order was reestablished in Honduras with the return to
power of the ousted leader.
Through the
statement Fernandez reiterated that the
interest is for the reestablishment of the democracy
and not to do business, and ratified that for the constitutional order to be reestablished in Honduras,
there should be a temporary suspension of the country as a member of
DR-CAFTA and the intra-regional commerce in Central America.
Fernandez also pointed out that the Dominican Republic would not accept any
investment currently established in Honduras. "The Dominican Republic does not have any
interest in taking advantage of the Honduran investments in textiles
for the free zones; our proposal is aimed at guaranteeing the
permanence of democracy as a political system for all of Latin America," the Chief Executive made clear.

LF better keep his trap shut, as he is already digging himself into a deeper hole. He already boo booed, big time with the statements before, requesting sanctions.
Now we are into a food fight with powerful and influential Honduran businessmen, with nothing to gain by this. This shows lack of diplomacy, political savvy and murky forward vision, the DR might come out worse in this lose-lose scenario.

Churchill and Roosevelt made an alliance with Stalin to defeat the Hitler and the Nazis. In life sometimes we have common threats and even goals with our enemies.
If defending constitutionally elected governments against fascist military takeovers is "changing banners for convenience" then I am in historically good company.

Now back to the jugular!
Here is what Lie-onel Fernandez and Corruption Incorporated aka the PLD has wrought on the country:
Government debt at US$15 billion?
The growth of the Dominican debt is in direct proportion to increasing corruption in government in the DR, said economists participating in the forum, "Public Debt, Corruption and Poverty" held yesterday at the Hotel Lina. The event was organized by the Transparency Table and the Economy and Trade Table of the Citizens Forum group. Economists reported that the foreign debt as of April 2009 was at US$7.08 billion, up from US$2.78 billion in 2000.
The economists stressed that the whole picture of the debt had to be presented.
When adding in domestic debt, the overall debt is closer to US$15 billion.
Francisco Checo, of the Center for Economic Investigations of the Caribbean (Cieca) says that by 2015 every Dominican will owe US$1,500, which would place the DR among the three or four

most per-capita indebted countries in the region.
Checo, a former coordinator of the civic group, Participacion Ciudadana, explained that more that 50% of the debt of the country is bilateral with countries. The debt with PetroCaribe of Venezuela for oil purchases being the highest. 25% of the debt is with private debtors, and another 50% with multilateral organizations , such as the Interamerican Development Bank, World Bank.
Checo explained the Central Bank, to counter effects of the financial crisis on the stability of the local economy has taken on debt for US$3.98 billion and another US$4.19 billion locally. As a result, the total debt of the Dominican government is at US$15.26 billion, as reported in the Listin Diario.
The domestic debt increased from US$466 million in 2000 to US$4.2 billion in 2009.
Thus, while the foreign debt increased 2.6 times, the domesticdebt is up 9 times.

Leonel Fernandez had campaigned for his return to the Presidency in 2004, criticizing the debt taken on by his predecessor, Hipolito Mejia.
The economists say that the foreign debt of the DR could reach a record high of US$13 billion by the end of the Fernandez administration in 2012 if the government maintains its pace of borrowing, according to a report in El Caribe.
As reported in El Caribe, economist Isidoro Santana said that a large part of the debt has been contracted to resolve the energy situation, which continues at its worst despite bilions spent by the government.
Santana says that corruption is one of the leading obstacles to the implementing of socially efficient government policies.

El camacho is standing up. I'm not surprised cause every time there were a coup in Haiti it started from the DR. In return the DR always gained from the coup. Everytime Haiti looks bad they gained. Then, they'll go to the OAS to claim foul. Remember el camacho you have an army over there,. You suported coups in Haiti, OK. Now coups are back in the Americas, next it could be your turn. And, this time Haiti will just watch you fall. Since you suported the thugs, trained them to attack my country, you have no right to tell the world what to do, since your own hands are durty in Haiti's coups. Guess what camacho, what tells me you're not part of the coup like you did in Haiti.

HaytianPridesimo that is old news, now the Dominican Republic is thinking progressively. Haiti doesn't have to be wary of a Dominican Republic allowing coup d'eta to form in national territory. At least with Leonel Fernandez . You have to understand Pridesimo this is organized by the empire, by Central Intelligence Services. You see, when the united state want to see a 3rd world country in economical turmoil the C.I.A comes to that country neighbor to create the assault of that particular country in from there they launch their operation and, unfortunately Dominican republic has been used quite a few times for that kind of operation to prepare terrorist to go in terrorize Haiti. I personally, as a Dominican, am very sorry that this sort of things took place in the past . Unfortunately some of these countries are under the spell of such an evil country that has so much power that can actually manipulate practically your family in to killing you. Haitian & Dominican Together.
