Santo Domingo.– The accelerated visual contamination caused by informal merchants of clothes, food and fruits, as well as from scrapped vehicles frequently found on sidewalks and streets, has forced the National District authorities to redesign their policy of municipal clean up.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) reported that 255 junk vehicles have been taken off of the streets to the Duquesa sanitary landfill, an operation that will be increased over the next few days with the help of the Justice Department and the municipalities.
The
Municipal government of the National District (ADN) and the car dealers reached an
agreement to prohibit the sale of vehicles on the
sidewalks.
Some of the streets with more informal ambulatory vendors are Duarte, Mella and San Vicente de Paul, as well as the barrios Villa Consuelo, Villa Juana and Ensanche Ozama, among others.
For complaints regarding occupied public spaces, the authorities for traffic and transit regulation opened a hotline (809-686-6520).

Was there a policy before?
