SANTO DOMINGO.- Police today dispersed doctors grouped in the CMD with tear gas at the approach to the Juan Pablo Duarte bridge, as the ensuing struggle backed up traffic across it and in adjacent streets.
In the march, one of their activities in their demand of a wage increase since Thursday, the doctors set off from Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital at 10:30 a.m. and after crossing the plaza La Trinitaria, the Police intercepted their advance.
Meanwhile another group of doctors occupied Puerto Plata’s Cathedral early morning Tuesday.
That province’s CMD president Anulfo Suero said they began a hunger strike until the authorities attend their demand. He said eight doctors went to the San Felipe Church at 7:30 a.m. and spoke with one of the priests, and told him that they needed to begin a hunger strike inside.
