AZUA.- The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and of the National Police have increased the number of agents, checkpoints in strategic places, and searches of vehicles and people on the highway to Santo Domingo.

The measure comes less than 48 hours after the shooting deaths of four people linked to drug trafficking, including Police agents.

The latest victim of the clashes between drug gangs which rip off drugs and money is Braulio Estefanía Mejía Rossó (Polito), who had reportedly been kidnapped and was found shot to death yesterday in the vicinity of Santo Domingo’s horse racking track, said Police West Region commander Cesar Decena.

Also killed in the clashes were Police major Israel Sanchez, the civilian Matías Santos (Fredín) and another man unidentified so far, whereas lieutenant Alberto A. Segura, sergeant Juan Carlos Arias and corporal David Felix Pimentel, corporal Luis Manuel Collado’s alleged accomplices are being held in San Juan’s jail.

Consulted on the situation gripping Azua last night, the San Juan and Elías Piña provinces Police commander confirmed the increased patrols, as well as the transfer of the precinct’s entire personnel, as Police chief Rafael Guzman had announced.

Decena said he asked senator Wilton Guerrero, “in the most respectful and friendly manner,” to deliver the list with the names of the more than 20 officers stationed there, whom the legislator affirms are “at the service of drug traffickers.”

This is not just Leonel. This is a referendum on the whole Dominican government (PE, PL, SCJ, FFAA, PN, and the rest of the Dominican apparatus). They all failed! Bring the 1950's back!

I WANT TO HEAR THE PEOPLE WHO SHOVELED THE 1961'S REPUBLIC DOWN OUR THROATS TO COME OUT AND JUSTIFY THESE COLLATERAL DAMAGES THAT WE GET FROM THE CURRENT GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM!

COME OUT AND ARGUE YOUR EXISTENCE! ARGUE WHY WE SHOULD CONTINUE GETTING MORE OF THE SAME! PENDEJOS!

Corruption, once it has taken hold and become endemic, is most difficult to eradicate.....just consider on-going situation in Mexico.

I welcome this move as a small but positive effort. Now we could progress to the "rule of law" and holding all military and civilian citizens accountable for compliance. No exceptions.

All convicted should do 20 years of hard labor at the Hatian border, erecting the much discussed wall. When the wall has been completed, then they should be volunteered to perform the work that those hard-working Hatians performed in the fields and construction sites.

I am clearly not anti-Hatian; however, I fully believe that internal problems are better resolved from within and by those most affected. Hatian emigration to DR is not going to redress their sad situation and, even worse, would only serve to export it to DR.

That's all.

A single, big, Trujillo, inside the presidential palace?
Or a hundred thousand little Trujillos, running amok in the streets?
Which is more terrifying? Which would offer greater safety and security?
