SANTO DOMINGO. - A group of more than 20 hooded persons today hurled teargas in the northern gate of the State University UASD, and despite that its authorities hadn’t suspended classes the students left the campus.

UASD director Franklin Garcia, who was heading a welcoming ceremony for the new students, rebuked the actions he called vandalism.

The protesters, chanting slogans against the Government policies, the high cost of living and the blackouts, carried boxes which witnesses affirm were full of stones.

The protest began at the corner of Sanchez Ramirez street with Maximo Gomez avenue and after having reached the front of the Humanities Faculty 10:45 a.m., burned tires in the area.

Police agents surrounded the campus as traffic was snarled around the university.

Witnesses said the action was a “warm-up” for the 12 hour strike the Alternative Social Forum called for Friday, to protest the official economic policies and the deterioration of basic services.

josean says"we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore"

Then why the arnachist terrorists are attacking a university and disrupting classes.

.
We call this behavior "Displaced Agression" in Psychology.

The persons to whom the agression is displaced are always weaker and ironically share the same concerns with the aggressors . QUE TONTOS ,QUE LOCOS !!!!

They attack a university and a group of innocent students because they know damn well that retaliation from the students is unlikely.
Isn't what terrorism is all about? Attacking a public and softer spot for maximum effect.

This can't possibly be good.

Attacking students, our future, it clearly shows a lack of rational objectives-unless actions perpetrated by disguised gov operatives, to sort of confuse populace. No wonder they were hooded!

josean , democracy is practiced at the voting booth.
Attacking quiet students in class rooms is anarchy.

According to El Listin Diario, the police toss tear gas to control the rioters. Trenslation??

"Los disturbios en la UASD se iniciaron próximo a las 11:00 de la mañana, lo que obligó a los agentes policiales que fueron enviados al lugar a dispersar bombas lacrimógenas para contralar a los individuos que encapuchados lanzaban piedras en el campus".

UAS students rioting? Shocked. Shocked!
That's what they've always done for pay by the PRD.
If the twits want lower prices and better services, go to a real school, learn something, then get a JOB!
They'd be surprised how fast things improve if they just get of with life and WORK!
