SANTO DOMINGO.- AES Dominicana, through its subsidiary AES Itabo and its Foundation joined the effort "World Beach and Coasts Cleanup Day" with the massive support of the community Haina and the zone’s civil and business organizations, in coordination with the Blue Life Foundation.

More than 700 volunteers from Bajos de Haina, 150 AES Dominicana employees, together with members of Blue Life, cleaned the beach "El Gringo," frequented by the zone’s inhabitants.

“We’re more than thankful for the support the community Bajos de Haina has given this activity and we’re confident that if we continue working hand in hand for the zone’s common development objectives, we’ll meet today’s many challenges, such as the environment pollution,” said AES Dominicana president Marcos De la Rosa.

“The purpose for taking part in this activity, which the organization Ocean Conservancy promotes around the world isn’t limited to a day of cleanup but to create awareness of environment responsibility in children, youngsters and adults who participated in the effort and above all in collecting the information on what has been collected to then attack the root of the problem," AES said in a statement.

The Haina Industries Association, Civil Defense, the Fire Department, City Council, community schools and all the Barrio Gringo neighborhood boards supported the activity.

What I find amazing is after a Sunday or a Holiday the amount of trash PIGGY Dominicans leave on the beach. Almost as amazing and the bags of trash flying out of the windows of SUV's.

What a country.!!!

Clean it up all you want and after one Sunday it turns right back to normal. Filthy DIRTY.```

Whats the point, if they were to put some rubbish bins along the beach and other places, it might help. Even those of us that want to dispose of our rubbish correctly cant. We take ours home but I dont see the Dominicans doing that.

I guess I don't know my country, but where exactly is "Gringo Beach"? Judging by the article, I take it that it is in Haina, is that correct?
