Santo Domingo.- Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez yesterday said he agrees with creating special courts with anonymous (“faceless”) judges and prosecutors, to try drug trafficking cases without endangering their lives and prevent organized crime’s threats from influencing their decisions. “The country cannot allow a group of criminals and narcotics traffickers who want to impose their laws of violence and death on the basis of threats and blackmails.”

Santo Domingo’s Archbishop, calling drug trafficking “increasingly more insolent and challenging,” said it’s correct to transfer to the capital’s courts the case of the Paya, Bani killings and others from places where the judges and prosecutors can be more vulnerable to threats and pressures. “These people don’t respect anybody, they’re wiling to eliminate anyone who confronts them, and so I feel there’s a need to act to preserve the prosecutors’ and judges’ lives.”

The prelate praised the authorities’ latest actions against drug trafficking and said he’s under the impression that the head of the Drugs Control Agency, Rolando Rosado is a “serious man, who acts correctly to confront drug trafficking.”

Who asked the catholic church for their input? Is there not a separation of church and state in this country either?

Yes... Not a bad idea.

They may find some balls to kick ass.

And the crooks will not know who to bribe.

I am behind this idea.

Great idea...the Church knows first hand how to deal with real Mafiosos so let's hope the powers that be listen......if they don't, they'll run out of judges and prosecutors before they run out of cases to try.

Yes, I must agree. How lame to have a court system with a faceless judge. What kind of whimp would sit on a bench and be afraid to show his face and? How disgraceful and COWARDLY!

So, the Church wants to show that it knows about drug trafficking and that traffickers are the work of the devil. The church is not looking into the real issues as to how drug traffickers are created and who are the real traffickers. Further, the church does not attack the real destroyers of life which as I had said is liquor and cigarrettes and how could they when they promote wine on every mass. The church should be instead counseling those individuals who had become involved by choice with drug trafficking. The problem is one that can be corrected but is not cause the authority is the one who creates the problems of drug trafficking. For Latin American government they desire for it to continued so they can asked the U.N. and the U.S. for further supports in the forms of money and equipments.

The church clergy knows all about faceless behavior as they are in the confession booths with young children. Parents, don't leave your children alone in the confession booths. There are faceless persons on the other side influencing policy in government.
