New York.– Dominican President Leonel Fernandez was in the city attending the
UN General Assembly meetings this week and decided to drop by the NYU
Bookstore on Saturday around 3:00 pm, the website nyunews.com reported and accompanied the news with some photos.
"Always do," Fernandez said. "Each time
I come to New York I come to the NYU Bookstore." The Head of State is the
honorary president of two foundations that recently opened a new
library, named after the former president of the Dominican Republic,
Juan Bosch.
"When I travel abroad I try to acquire the latest texts for
the library," he said. "Of course that means a trip to the NYU
Bookstore."

I can see why Dominicans are not considered worth of respect, it is not because of President Fernández, but because of people like you guys. Please read all your posts, and you will see how trashy most of your writings are. There are a few contributors to this forum that seem to have some dignity and circumspection. This crass behaviour is shameful and disgusting. Please, let's stop being so shallow and uncouth. Show that you are better than the president that you so ardently ridicule.

Dear Amber,,you must give these people some credit ,,If it was their intent to drive away from the board all the other people who may be more temperate, more tolerant and more respectful and less abusive , then , in fact , they are doing a very good job,
I also was worried what people reading this board in other countries may think of all the trash thrown at the president , the church , any one who succeeds ,of the tourist industry ,of the police force , but I now believe that most people are aware that the trash is not representative of the general Dominican behaviour.

WOW, I hope the Mr. Fernandez pulled the United Nation's volume published by UNICEF where is clearly show how illiterate the Dom. Rep. is compared to other Island nations in the caribbean. Also, I hope that he was able to read the fact that he only funded the entire country's schools a mere $140 million for 2 million students, which comes about $1,400 a year, figure that cuba, country under an embargo multiply by 6. You are an embarassment to the educated Dominicans residing in the U.S. and know that if they were back they would have never been able to acquire such education since the government does not care. How dare you visit a library when you do not provide one with the caliber of NYU's in the entire Island. In DR. Education is for the rich. The Public education system is a joke. The public university is very cheap as far as cost compaired to the USA. Most people go into business for them self because when you work for most companies they pay you so low. This country is geared to the rich and the poor work for a place to sleep and some food. You could work all your life and still have nadda. The people who try to get in to business have a hard time to get a loan at the bank and when they do the interest rate is so high. Here in new york we have so many hard working Dominicans that go back to the DR. to build homes and support there families.
From: United States
mrweepa, not only do the poor have a hard time getting a business loan, but, if they plan a business to compete head to head with the rich, they will learn the true meaning of intimidation.
