Did they need another "private aircraft" for the books they bought?
And the First Lady had all that time to go shopping in NYC. Great sales at Bloomies and Saks and Tiffany's and Gucci!
OK, where is the fearless leader off to next? Certainly not to govern. Time to stop, look around and see that nearly 40% of the population is living in suffering poverty. No schools, no hospitals, no infrastucture- just an enormous debt.
Kissing up to Chavez and Quaddafi is very bad and harmful. These are despots, who rule without mercy...with their populations still illiterate and in poverty. We want them as allies and friends?

its pretty ridiculous to criticize a chief executive of a country for taking a private flight don't you think? He is not obviously going to fly coach on american airlines with pepito and pablo who are most likely trafficking narcotics. Next we will be hearing that the president should wear jeans and t shirts because his suits are too expensive.

I never seen a head of state who travel more than Leonel. It is like he just doesn't want to deal with problem let other deal with it.

At least Ramoncito is not the one financing Leonel's travel expense with banister money otherwise they would have taken Leonel hostage already with so many trips oversea like some hotel in Peru almost did with our papa Hipolito.

Has LF announced that his trip was a huge success and that New York City has agreed to build a refinery here?

its funny in the US they are criticizing obama for not visiting enough foreign governments. As a matter of fact, an article on the washington times website today is blasting him for dealing too much with domestic issues and not enough foreign ones. I wonder if the people will ever make up their minds. In some places its good to meet the rest of the world but in DR its actually considered detrimental. Hmmm, I wonder...

dominica ..I am sure you realise that if he stays at home he will be attacked for not promoting the Dr overseas and if goes abroad , he will be attacked for not spending enough time in the DR attending to local problems .
If he is at all the same as me , he probably finds flying a very unattractive proposition these days and is more than glad to be sleeping in his own bed :

I am starting to really see your point here ricardolito. Not that I am a supporter of the PLD or LF but if the guy is wrong he's wrong but don't knock him because his shoes look good. It just scares me that we are so pessimistic and antagonizing that we won't even see good deeds if they were in front of us.

To Dominica and Ricardito,
I have no problem with his shoes, his suits, his entourage, his over the top costs of traveling all around the world making friends in high places.
What I have a problem with and hope you do as well is the fact that the DR is a nation with early 20th century infrastructure, no libraries, no educational system or health care for the truly poor and little to be proud of.
For such a wonderful people, we should expect and deserve better.
I will give LF credit. He is a good diplomat. However, his country is burning like Rome and his glasses prevent him from seeing the real issues.
And with a new scourge of illegal drug smuggling combined with its corruptible power, it is time to pay attention to home before all hell breaks loose.
You watch...LF will be off somewhere else within days.
Maybe join Obama and make a pitch for the Olympics here in 2020?

I live in New York, and I am certainly not waiting for Obama to hand me what I need. It seems like in DR everything needs to be handed to you. Everything is about the goverment, when in fact I know many who have made it through a lot of work. If we don't pay electricity, How is the energy that makes the generator work will actually produce enough to maintain it. We should target not the president, but people who just sit down till the president of heir choice win. In the mean time, let's let the country go down. I thought this was a job for every one, but maybe I am wrong

If we need change, let's not send someone else to work for it, let's start by changing ourselves. Maybe acceptable behaviour of progressing and hard working, doing the right thing will help, but at the end we will feel like someone ahead of us is cheating us by not doing anything, so let's join them for a change of nothing

PRD, PLD, and PRSC will always have something in common, they will have opposition, and no just regular I don't like what you are doing, but opposition that carries out violence and a lot more, so, we have hidden ourselves behind the backs of those who are willing enough to take action, but because is just a philosophical issue, we will alwasy be opposed to those who don't furnish our own interest. Stop asking and start acting by doing what is due by to your own country.

I like how you can sit in front of a computer to judge what others do, my question to you would be, what do you do?

No one, and I mean no one without any exception, should embarrassed him or herself with the stupidity of blaming the government with his or her own frustrated present.

For those unwillingly of parsimoniously understanding the whole by only judging the parts of it is this message:

Tomorrow, one year from today, five years from today, and even ten years from today, you will be sitting on you computer criticizing the government while the lack of achievement applause the ignorance.

My fellows Dominicans, we can only get out of it, what we put into it. Let’s not blindfold ourselves with shells of ignorance.

Let’s work ourselves toward a promising future, and let’s help our love one to do the same, and maybe then we could speak in better terms

When someone does not agree and is battle down with word of wisdom, he or she has the escape of insults as some psychological weapon to have his adversary level down to his or her own status, while it is only of a man or a woman with dignity that acceptance of failure is expected,…but ignorance still reign within the first.
