Santo Domingo.- As part of a program for its citizens, the American Citizen Services Unit (ACS) of the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section will provide various types of paperwork normally available only in Santo Domingo, for American citizens living in Santiago and surrounding areas, on Tuesday, October 7.

In this occasion American citizens living in the North region will be able to deposit only requests to renew passports, as requests for new passports will not be accepted.

Those interested will also be able to notarize documents, make inquiries regarding their Social Security benefits and those of veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

The consultations will be held in the Library of the Centro Cultural Dominico-Americano, located in the Avenida Estrella Sadhalá #101, starting 9:30 a.m.

All services, passports as well as notary, will be provided only by appointment, for which applicants should call 809-731-4468 Monday to Thursday, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., whereas for the Federal Benefits Unit regarding Social Security cases, the number to call is 809-731-4371, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

American citizens with appointment must arrive on time to assure their request can be processed that same day, but can always come to the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo if travel is urgent.

Information on the fee to issue passports and request requirements is available in the Web site: www.embajadausa.gov.do

Another Data Mining expedition. Leave the camp and forget this bunch. They're Trouble. The Republic has fallen. Reduce your old passport to a souvenir and a memory.

Guys I was in Santiago for over 15 days this past summer visiting some relatives and having some fun with my wife. There is a huge amount of Americans living in Santiago. This is evident if you to places such as the National for grocery shopping. The many times that I went there, since my relatives live right across from it, it was often populated by foreigners, mostly Spaniars and Americans, so this is no news for me. I think that it was about time that services are available closer.
