SANTO DOMINGO.- The wave of dismissals began by the new head of the State-owned Electrical Companies (CDEEE) has crested across Winston Churchill avenue to the National Lottery, as a "steam roller" has claimed the jobs of almost 2,000 employees since both officials took their posts, as outrage over nepotism in government agencies expands.
The Lottery’s new administrator Enrique Martinez has handed pink slips to 800 people, 615 of them Betting Parlor Supervisors, whereas the remaining 185 are mid and lower level posts.
A source quoted by news source diariolibre.com said most of those fired in the Lottery belong to the BISD party headed by the former administrator Jose Francisco Peña Guaba, who has been allied to the PLD party during the last three elections.

Law 41-08 on Public Function also prohibits "serving in the same institution with their spouse and those linked by consanguinity or affinity until the second degree inclusively."
