SANTO DOMINGO.- The civic movement Citizen Participation (PC) this week requested the Insurance Superintendence’s 2009 budget and its calls for tenders, purchases, the names of its officials and their wages; as well as any other person who it pays, just two weeks after the agency’s director Euclides Gutierrez accused it of being funded by “foreign” interests.
PC director Javier Cabreja said he also requested a list with the beneficiaries of the Superintendence’s aid programs, subsidies, scholarships, retirement, and pensions, because when he tried to get that public information, it wasn’t on the Web site.
He said he expects to receive the data within the 15 working days, as the Free Access to Public Information Law stipulates
Cabreja said the request is part of PC’s work to promote transparency in Dominican Republic, and as Transparency International’s local chapter.

Why argue with the messanger, if he has nothing to hide why not supply the public records.
