SANTO DOMINGO.- The media directors and commentators convened to a meeting with the Commission which investigates the December 24 murder of colonel Jose Amado González were surprised by the absence of Justice minister Radamés Jiménez and National District prosecutor Alexander Moscoso.
The questioned the two officials’ absence in the meeting which began at 10:25 a.m. Monday in the Hotel Meliá, to present the latest on the investigation into the case,
Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) chief Rolando Rosado said although the Puerto Rican fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto’s cartel hasn’t been destroyed it has been pounded with force.
He also affirmed that they are sure it was Figueroa who assassinated Gonzalez
The Commission also accuses Figueroa of being a pedophile and blame the intelligence services and the Central Electoral Board for his escape, said Jose Marte Piantini, of the Z101 FM afternoon radio program, when he briefly stepped out of the hall where the meeting is taking place, and include Police chief Rafael Guzmán, and Assistant DAs Frank Soto and Fabian Melo, among others.
More revelations
He also made reference to pornographic photos showing Figueroa dancing with minors in the nude, his daughter among them.
The investigators also showed photos of the also fugitive Sobeida Feliz and Figueroa having sex.

No surprise here. No one in the government is interested in telling the truth.

I think it is far better to have the Police chief and the Chief of DNCD there to explain matters ,,what could the other two have contributed at this stage ..nothing except to say that the Police and the DNCD are working hard to ring all the people involved to justice .

What kind of authority does the electoral Board have that they are blaming on the escape of this guy? Not sure what kind of jurisdiction they have but its pretty odd that an electoral board has any sort of authority on anything other than voting. Regardless, second question would be why are these other 2 absent? The murder of a colonel with so much of the trail covered up sounds like a duck, acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck. This administration is really becoming useless by the minute. Its a zoo and there is no control or any order whatsoever. Who controls what? what departments have authority to do what? and where is the accountability? This is more like a circus or a mafia than anything in the form of a government. Pretty sad that people have to live with this.

Everybody knows those commissions are the last step before the burial of cases.
I don´t recall any commission having a significant outcome, let alone tangible results.
Its all smokescreens and mirrors.

One of the biggest problems always facing Dominican Society is the power that the military has. The military should be stripped of all that power. A government should be elected by its people and not run by its military. An oversight department that has authority in military justice like the UCMJ in the US and that fact that any military authority can be replaced at will by someone else should do some damage. Instead we have generals and colonels that run the country and can say how things are done without any worries of a backlash from the president or any other entitty. I do wonder sometimes if elections in this country are at all relevant or if this is just another cover for a dictatorship.

Don't waste too much of your time waiting for facts on this story....they are not to be had, for the depth and level of involvement is so extensive that it would bring down the government.
Like every other major story relating to corruption and similar, it shall just fade away and we'll never hear again about Figueroa Agosto and Sobeida, etc. It would be like that airplane which left from el Cibao to the Bahamas with some illegals on board. First it was presumed crashed, then it mysteriously returned, and nothing else was ever learned about the perpetrators, story. It is just the way things are done in DR, and the populace has come to expect it, accept it.
Only a revolution in the whole meaning of the world could bring about necessary change in DR. Period. Question is: are there any or enough men of character left who could execute such undertaking. Probably not. Yes, I think not. Sad, very sad.

One more thing, as you consider story closely, you can't help but think what bothers most of us more: fact that he is Puerto Rican or fact that the seems to have gotten away with it?
I give this guy a lot of credit. He managed to easily buy an entire government-it seems, and had a great time and lots of fun doing it. He is also hiding under their noses and they either don't wish to find him or are protecting him. Very intriguing story, indeed.
