Santo Domingo.– President Leonel Fernandez on Sunday met with actor Vin Diesel and Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean, who stressed the solidarity and humanitarian work undertaken by the president in favor of the Haitian people, affected by the recent massive earthquake that killed thousands.

Diesel and Jean were received by the Head of State in his office at the National Palace and then answered questions from journalists. Jean, who was part of the Hope for Haiti Now telethon, thanked the Dominican government and all the nations involved in helping his country.

Diesel, a native of New York with Dominican roots, Italian and African-American real name is Mark Sinclair Vincent, is a common figure in the Dominican Republic.Last year he produced and directed the short film "Los Bandoleros", filmed in a poor neighborhood of Santo Domingo, and recorded scenes of the fourth "Fast and the Furious" in the Dominican capital.

We should change the constitution so that we have two presidents.

One to take photos with any fool who wants to get his picture taken with a real "President" of a country.

And another one to DO SOME WORK FOR THE COUNTRY, damn it.

Fedadiaz-"Where in the world they got the roots of this guy? Dominican roots ? That's crazy."

I don't get it, what is crazy and unusual about that? What is the big deal and why could it not be possible? Why exactly makes it so crazy? Hold on here just a minute Fedadiaz, it might not be so crazy after all.....I don't have the exact story, but the fact of the matter is he definitelly does have some DR roots.

Vin Diesel was born in NY and if I am not mistaken was raised by his mother and adoptive father, not sure which of the two was Dominican, but he grew up culturally as a Dominican-American and like most US born Dominican children, as a youth he spent summers in the DR and throughout the years developed close family ties with what may either be his adoptive or possibly genetic Dominican relatives.

The point of the matter or issue is whether or not he has any kind of roots in the DR and the answer is positively YES. What is not clear if those roots are genetic

Regarding Wycleff, I was very surprised and disappointed in him when I heard he paid himself for a past charity concert, that item is difficult to explain.
So maybe he learned from his mistakes, and he will be more careful now, since the microscope is on him. Persons must follow all the rules in the USA, more pertaining to tax matters.
Anyway he is a wonderful ambassador to the Haitian cause, and will be important for Haiti's future,
as long as he stays clears of trying to swim with the Haitian shark politicians.

is wearing adult pampers during a head of state visit to the presidential palace consider part of that protocol you talking about?

Balaguer wore pampers during many meetings with some of the most important political figures of his time, some even say he took a dump while in the presence of Jimmie Carter

Wyclef may recover but there will always be a cloud ....Remember "Corky " learned the hard way as well
"I'm thrilled they're taking steps now to build confidence in donors," said Sanjay Rawal, who co-founded Yele with Jean and now works as a consultant to nonprofit groups. "It's a shame everyone who has looked, and is looking, to Wyclef for leadership is doubting his intentions. I've always known his intensions are pure. He has a supreme opportunity to rise above the controversy by making necessary changes in the organization and offering a concrete plan how to spend money people have entrusted to him."
Art Taylor of the Wise Giving Alliance of the Better Business Bureau said the controversy over Yele's expenditures will help it mature.
"It's not the first or the last charity in the country to find themselves in a position where they're now growing, and suddenly there's new scrutiny and they have to do things differently," he said.

If Balaguer wore pampers he sure didn't advertise it or showed anyone.
The protocol thing is just a matter of propriety and respect for tradition. Humans that started the cognitive process by touching two fingers in their hand, and then became civilized, and with the coming of civilization rules were created.
The doctrine of chaos and lack of respect for traditional values and rules in general, must not be followed, in an orderly and just society. Laws and tradition are important attributes, although they are not easy to follow, and sometimes seem like obstacles in our road to be a first world nation.

"Leonel Fernandez on Sunday met with actor Vin Diesel and Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean, who stressed the solidarity and humanitarian work ," the DT reported recently.

oooo

The three gentlemen of liberal bourgeois tendencies inquired about the possibility of coodinating some of the huge amounts of aid they send to Haiti.

Sending aid to earthquake victims is widely seen among the ethical of humanity as "solidarity and humanitarian work," borrowing DT lingo.

Clearly, vermin see such work as an evil. Aristotle was right when he said our dispositions ... not our eyes ... determine our vision.

I pray this post is on topic of the DT article from which the post quotes.

Vin Diesel and Wyclef Jean,

Aristotle ... in his immortal masterpiece on art, titled "Rhetoric," and in his other masterpiece titled "Poetics" ... says a just man is greater than an artist, no matter how great the artist is.

Well, what if the artist is also a just man.

Is the just man who happens to be a great artist greater than a man who is "only" just?

This question is too deep for me.

But I pray that you will not be deterred from art or from justice by the vermin.

A humble inquiry: whenever the stars are enlisted for the latest global charity gig -- if it's Tuesday, it must be Darfur, Thursday global warming, Friday the one-legged gorillas of the Amazonian rainforest -- do they ever feel remotely abashed at their public posturing? Could they even find any of these places on the globe? So you don't believe in freedom of speech, free enterprise and the ability of the market to regulate itself.

If Hollywood is producing garbage then the people won't watch it; however if Hollywood is producing it it’s because there is a market for it and more importantly it makes money.

The Venezuela State told RCTV that it must respect Venezuelan law because it is national broadcaster, since more than 70% of its content and operations take place in Venezuela. RCTV said it was not a national broadcaster and therefore it will not respect Venezuelan law. The State ordered the US imperialist Direct TV (satellite) and Peruvian bourgeois Intercable (cable) to close down RCTV until RCTVagrees to respect Venezuelan law. The carriers closed down RCTV.

Two marches ... one in support of the closure by revolutionaries and another against the closure ... were staged in Merida, an university town near Caracas.

Pro-imperialist swine opened fire on the revolutionary march, killing one pro-Chavez student and wounding eight police officers.

The bourgeois media reported that a pro-imperialist dog had been killed, reactionary student scum in Caracas reacted violently again.

"I beliave in freddom of speech, but what we have on television is and all out assault on the minds of children," a poster said above.

oooo

In Venezuela, the revolutionaries passed a "law on social reponsibility in radio and television" which says, among others things, that a broadcaster can't air porn during certain hours of heavy child viewership.

"This is censorship. The bourgeois media have free speech; so, they can air whatever they want and whenever they want. Porn is free speech," the filthy bourgeois media exploded in rage.

The Venezuelan law doesn't outlaw broadcast of porn, the law regulates when porn can be broadcast. But the slime in the bourgeois media alleges unwarranted interference by the state in the enjoyment of free speech porn."

Some parents don't want their kids watching porn because the kids don't do their homework.

Contemporary bourgeois society is degenerating so fast that it violently reacts to anything that smacks of cleanliness.

Lamentably, GC expresses the norm in bourgeois society which he champions.

But GC's offal is no cause for others to abandon civility and gentlemanly discourse. His offal is good cause for others to cling more tightly to civility.

Please pray that GC's soul frees itself from the clutches of bourgeois society. Bourgeois society erased all traces of tact and taste from GC's utterances.
