Sheikh Abdallah Bin Zayid Al Nahyan and Carlos Morales
Troncoso.
Santo Domingo.– Foreign minister Carlos Morales Troncoso has hailed the great
efforts made by UAE's Khalifa Bin Zayed Charity Foundation to find
alternative cross points to take humanitarian aid to Haiti as
the airports in the neighboring country continued to be inaccessible.
Troncoso also
lauded the professionalism of the Foundation and its keenness to ensure
that the aid reaches the quake victims in Haiti on time.
A
delegation from the Foundation met the minister on Friday to discuss
further cooperation between the Foundation and the Dominican government
in the coordination mechanisms that are necessary to deliver relief aid
to Haiti.
Morales Troncoso expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Khalifa for his humanitarian
stance and the speed with which the Foundation delivered assistance and
support to the hospitals in the Dominican border with Haiti
to provide medical assistance to the quake victims.

Just don't let them open any madrassas or mosques on haitian or Dominican soil. The last thing we need is an islamic presence en lo barrio de lo tigere.

On face value I go along Carlos Morales in welcoming the humanitarian aid ..The coverage of the tragedy has dominated world news and I think the charitable foundation has found a very worthy cause here . However I have just spent two days in the capital and it seems to be full of foreign aid people who are just hanging around SD,,I had to work hard just to find an hotel room but ,contrary to what has been written here, there were no obvious signs of rich Haitians in the capital but hundreds of Europeans, Arabs and some Americans ,, a cruise boat was also in town but on the other side of the river to Zona Colonial and there were a large number of tourist groups earlier today .

Not really clear what was contributed and value.
I am skeptical of anything the Arabs do, because they are not well-recognized for charity home or abroad. I further suspect ulterior motives; perhaps mining for a safe-haven relief valve, just in case. They came to the right place, I believe, look what Figueroa was able to perpetrate, and his pockets weren't nearly as deep. Figueroa might as well have been Arab for, besides money, he also shares their insatiable appetite for sex. Let's see how relationship evolves.
One thing, however, no Islamic churches or schools in DR-none!!!!! Fight them hard and cut off their heads if necessary, but don't let them establish foothold. Look, we don't even have enough virgins around to even satisfy Dominicans, much less the 72 virgins Islamic terrorists demand. I am not so sure we have enough "patos", either, to substitute.

Ricardolito,
I saw tons of Haitains satying in the smaller hotels in Gazcue early this week. In some places I saw no Dominicans at all. Most of them spent their days smoking and talking in the lobby.
