Santo Domingo.- Interior and Police Minister Franklin Almeyda on Thursday denied corruption in the Dominican Government and challenged anyone to point to a corrupt official by name.

He said if someone identifies a civil servant who incurs in corruption it would be a favor not only to the Government and to the ruling PLD party but to all of society. “Because the only thing that currently weakens the PLD is that its own members feel depressed because of the belief that it’s a corrupt government, it is not a corrupt government.”

Interviewed in Hoy Mismo Colorvision, Almeyda challenged the opposition PRD party to say who the corrupt are in the Administration and accused it of creating a smokescreen aimed at seeking advantage in the 2012 presidential elections.

Maybe he's not corrupt.

Maybe he thinks what's going on in all spheres of the Government is OK because of the Inbred Entitlement Doctrine.

Maybe he's just plain stupid. Hey, he thinks he's got a shot at the presidency.

I ain't got enough fingers to perform that exercise......

What a complete and utter moron though, it has been shown again and again that this is true. Its not an opinion, it is a fact. Of course not everyone is corrupt, but but the lack of action against the ones that are is what is causing the problem Mr Almeyda...

Now please, go do your job, and get your police force to start doing something beneficial, instead of 12 of them sitting outside my apartment building stopping cars for bribes all week.....

Franklin Almeyda is the definition of what ails the DR. He (as one of hundreds of examples) is why the country now needs a strong benevolent dicator, who can right the sinking ship, the DR. All these payasos (all funcionarios of PLD, PRD, PRSC, etc) need to be banned, tried, stripped of all assets and jailed/housed on a barge in the middle of Lago Enriquillo for life. Roll the clock back to 1961 and start anew.

Interior and Police Minister Franklin Almeyda - Listen up. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Just what planet are you living on because the corruption is there for all to see.
Who will come forward as you demand when coming forward will likely be a death sentence?
How many, Interim judges have been appointed to preside over high profile cases, which they handled with deliberate incompetence, resulting in the freeing of the perpetrators?
How much money intended for infrastructure has disappeared?
How many children have been given watered down milk in their mandated school breakfast?
How many policemen have demanded something for "un refreco" on the highways and byways of this country?
Turn over a rock, and you will find a corrupt official or corrupt act. Do your job Interior and Police Minister Franklin Almeyda and you won't have to ask anyone to point a finger at anybody. You will find it by yourself.

It's a DUCK.,

Is so interesting to see how this gentleman can keep a straight face (at least for the picture) while denying corruption in DR. it just so happens that last week I had a long conversation with a person working at the DR budget office who confirmed that no less that 30% of the country's budget is wasted in corruption payoffs while the country keeps increasing it's national debt.

Corruption has become the fabric that holds the Dominican Government, and the political parties together. That being said, it is the obvious he can't recognize that it is actually happening. The only eye- opener would be the lack of corruption, which would be abnormal in his circles.

On another note, he could have been in a coma, smoking strange stuff, or downright uneducated and stupid.

For Almeyda to say this makes him look like a complete idiot. He destroyed any ounce of credibility any intelligent person could have for him. Corruption is part of every government entity but some are far more corrupt than others. The DR government is internationally known for being extremely corrupt with as many in your face cases as anyone would like to look for. The fact that Almeyda denies this makes him look like nothing more than a fool!

It would be more difficult to find government officials who are NOT corrupt!

"Dominican Government isn’t corrupt, Interior Minister says"

You got to be kidding me.. .he says that this is a PRD stunt to get more votes on 2012? Well whether PRD, PLD, PRSC, PQD, PCD, PRI, and all of those acronyms that exist in the politics of the DR, all of these bafoons are just waiting for a chance to be in power so that they could fill up their pockets!
