HIGUEY, Dominican Republic.- In scene right out of a gangland movie two men were gunned down as they exited the courthouse in Higüey (east) Thursday noon as they left a hearing, in yet another case involving drug trafficking.

The National Police announced the arrest yesterday afternoon of Army sergeant Henry Perez, who together with two civilians other shot killed one of the men while the other two held one of the victims. The Police identified the two as the brothers Wascar and Alejandro Castillo del Rosario, who are fugitives.

The Police said the victims, the Dominican-Haitians Juan Emilio and Julio Telemaco Jean, were shot several times in different parts of the body, while the Haitian woman Irda Telemaco, 52, was injured in the attack, was treated in that city’s hospital and released.

The attack was in reprisal for the murder of Castillos’ brother in May 2009 in an alleged theft of an unrecovered drug shipment airdropped over the batey Maragua, in which Telemacos’ father Jose Ogui also participated, the Police report said. “After this release (from court) the indignant homicides allegedly pursued Juan Emilio and Telemaco and upon arriving at the place commenced firing. In the crime scene were found 13 shells of 9 millimeter caliber."

Cockroaches, but not a win-win.

They just killed cockroaches that had the ability to rats out large nests of cockroaches.

The drug cartel won, because most likely everyone was in on the hit, judges et al.

It is loss for the DR because laws are not enforced for the small percentage of Dominicans that ruin the country.

Drug trafficking is poisoning Mexico and all transit countries. Higüey and all of the Eastern DR is also a transhipment zone in the Caribbean. This is only the beginning.

We should all be very concerned about this. Punta Cana's airport is by far our most important port of entry for tourism.

If we just ignore this we'll be letting this pestering nuisances kill the goose that lay the golden egg.

drug dealers are not going to share thier profits with the dominican people....
stay with the tourists business the dominican people will have jobs from this type of business not the drug trade where only a few close knit family and friends share the ill-gotten spoils.

u make more money from the tourists then a million drug dealers only people die from the drug trade they all end up with the same story in the end.and its not a happy ending for most of them.
