Santo Domingo.- The journalist Luis Eduardo Lora (Huchi) has received warnings from the lawyers of convicted drug traffickers to recant statements that "affect" those "gentlemen."

On Tuesday morning Lora said the lawyers of the brothers Antony and Edwin Manzano, and Angel Wilson Adames seek to instill fear in an effort to silence reporters.

The three convicts were recently transferred to the jail at Najayo from a holding facility in Barahona, where they were reportedly targeted for assassination in the wake of the scandal that led to the suspension of San Cristobal sentencing judge Francisco mejia Angomas.

In Friday’s editorial newspaper Libre revealed it also has received warnings and notifications from lawyers and personalities related to similar cases, and urged the authorities to provide more protection for journalists. “Since it’s about people whose history speaks for them, the authorities must intervene in the affair to protect the lives of people, who as Huchi Lora provide a priceless service to the country. Today, for Huchi and tomorrow for all the journalists of this country.”

The investigative reporters Nuria Piera and Alicia Ortega have also denounced threats.

Another fine example of the stupidity of the dominican professional. WHo in their right mind would put themselves between that there, and nothing will be done to stop this practice either..... NOTHING!!!! LEO WOULD SIT THERE AND SMILE, and in back of his mind think of ways to use civilians emotional response to a perceived threat to his advantage.....NYC BABY!!!!!!!

Those lawyers/messengers are accomplices to threats, part of a conspiracy and members of an association of criminals.

So, indict them, Huchi!
