AZUA, Dominican Republic.- The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) seized 177 packages presumably of cocaine during raids in a rural community Monday afternoon, but whose owners escaped from the agents and are actively sought in the entire South region.

Acting on a tip the agents arrived in the village Las Guanabanas around 4:30 p.m. and found 30 packages and with 57others in three sacks, abandoned together with a motorcycle.

DNCD spokesman Ramon Alcides Rodriguez said the substance was sent to Forensics for analysis, while the search for the suspects is conducted nationwide in farms and forests and with checks on highways, mostly in the South region.
