SD- The CEO of the State-owned Power Companies (CDEEE) announced today that charges will be filed against the executives of the capital’s icon shopping center Plaza Central, for allegedly stealing electricity.
Celso Marranzini said the mall owes RD$5 million for power consumed illegally and warned that its high time to set an example with those who commit fraud. “I believe that when society begins to point at those responsible for this damn fraud, society will then begin to change.”
Marranzini, speaking in a seminar the Management of Commercial Losses in the Electrical Sector, taking place in the Hotel Embajador today and tomorrow, added that Plaza Central was using a direct hookup for several months, instead of paying the distributor Edesur for the electricity.

OK, thats not fair....How about the person manning the controls at CDEEE and how about the A/P(accounts payable) department at CDEEE, someone needs to take responability for the ovresight at CDEEE. They can't just push it off to someone else........SPRING CLEANNING is needed at the State Owed Power Co...Thats a big mistake there, 5 million peso's worth of incriminating evidence.......This looks like corruption to me.....Someone didn't get their monthly bonus.

There is" NO END" to the fraud in the DR. be it Electrical, Title Certificates (property), or buying used cars. It is all a sham. Plaza Central is only one example of many in the country ! CDEEE knows who is stealing, as they have historical records that shows electrical consumption over the years. Could it be someone on the inside, is on the take. Any significant deviation in the numbers, must be audited. Bottom line is, if you are honest, you are screwed, for you are the one paying for all the crap that happens in the DR. A motto to live by while in the DR, "DONT TRUST ANYONE".

I smell some political posturing.
The Government can't provide 24 hour power. One of the reasons is that so much power is stolen. They can't go into the barrios because that is not a very wise move politically so they put the screws to a big, bad company. They get more money to squander and steal and they look like they care for the people.
