Santo Domingo.- The United States and Dominican Republic armed forces evaluate the “Plan of Action 2011” in the war both nations wage on drug trafficking and organized crime, which this year has been forceful.

Navy Chief of staff chief of staff vice admiral Homero Lajara made the statement in the reception for the vice commander of the U.S. Southern Command, lieutenant general Ken Keen, in the 27 de Febrero Naval Base yesterday.

Lajara said that in fact that it’s through the Command based in Miami, where the regional strategy of common interests between both nations is coordinated, specially drug trafficking. “For our country this visit has an extraordinary importance because it marks the start of an evaluation of the Plan of Action for 2011, in the battle we are freeing against drug trafficking, which is humanity’s number one threat.”

He said he and Keen discussed organized crime, damages to the environment, operational readiness and humanitarian aid for countries affected by natural disasters, and as an example cited the quake in Haiti, where 28 missions by Navy ships transported thousands of tons of food, medicine, equipment and clothing, and ferrying doctors, paramedics and mobile hospitals.

Lajara also hailed the U.S. military’s aid to the Dominican Navy, including the donation of speedboats which allows it to better control the territorial waters.

There is no real war on drugs in the Dominican Republic. The government and police officials make tons of money from drugs. The corruption allows drug dealing at the highest levels to go on under the nose of the people who are supposed to stop it. Those donated boats to catch drug dealers are probably used to transport the drugs.

Without the drug money the DR economy would be in very bad shape. How do you think most of these construction projects get the money to build huge buildings and remain empty? They hide their drug money in projects like this and their money has been laundered. Any money lost during the transaction is simply the fee for laundering the money.

You mean those same dumb ass generals that just kick out the drug dealers under their command instead of court marshaling and putting them in jail.

Please... Disband the complete DR armed forces and make them get real jobs.

Why would anyone want to inform the enemy of the plan? That's what you do when you include our generals.

VeronicaDR,

That is exactly how Miami and Cancun developed and I totally agree with you.

This is the way construction projects ,hotels, roads etc get done and money moves around.
When somebody gets to big or changes the rules or refuses to pay they go down

Then it's is back to business with new guy who follows the plan.

An important aspect of Individual freedom is the right to do with yourself as you please as long as your actions cause no unnecessary suffering or direct harm to others. Many among us may disagree with this, and they should be free to believe what they wish, but the moment they are willing to use force to impose their will on the rest of us, is the exact same moment that the petty criminals/dealers, the Mafia, drug barons, terrorists and corrupt government officials/agencies enter the equation. The problems created by self harm then rapidly pale into insignificance as society spirals downwards into a dark abyss, while the most shady characters and black-market corporate entities exponentially enrich themselves in a feeding frenzy likened to that of piranhas on bath-tub meth.

I thought the Southern Command was in Tampa, not Miami.
Keen thinks he's on a mission, the generals aren't sure who he is or where he's from, but will use him as a ticket for whatever they want.

If you support prohibition you've helped to escalate Murder, Theft, Muggings and Burglaries.

If you support prohibition you've helped to divert scarce law-enforcement resources away from protecting your fellow citizens from the ever escalating violence against their person or property.

If you support prohibition you've helped evolve local gangs into transnational enterprises with intricate power structures that reach into every corner of society, controlling vast swaths of territory with significant social and military resources at their disposal.

Neurotics build castles in the sky, psychotics live in them; the concept of a "Drug-Free Society" is a neurotic fantasy and Prohibition's ills are a product of this psychotic delusion.

Prohibition is nothing less than a grotesque dystopian nightmare; if you support it you must be either ignorant, stupid, brainwashed, corrupt or criminally insane.

We all know the truth, that the RD Generals CONTROL the drug trade in the country, and the US government knows and allows this.
