Comendador, Dominican Republic.- Several Dominican Amy platoons and Immigration agents have seized several vehicles which tried to smuggle undocumented Haitians across the border during patrols near this town of Elías Piña province, including one with two kilos of cocaine, whose Dominican owners were arrested.

Army Chief of Staff Carlos A. Rivera said dozens of Haitians were stopped while attempting to cross the border in this area early Friday by the troops which guard the trails and local roads in the region’s forests and mountains between Elías Piña and Dajabon (northwest) provinces.

He said the soldiers have chased the groups of Haitians who hike dozens of kilometers within the border’s forests and farms as far east as Santiago Rodriguez and Valverde provinces

The number of illegal Haitians arrested and vehicles seized that used by Dominicans and Haitians have increased in the last few hours after the Army heightened the patrols to halt the entry into Dominican Republic of people whom may have cholera.

In that regard 3rd Army Brigade commander Milton de Jesus Frias said all of the zone’s highways are being watched and random checks are being carried out in small communities and agricultural areas to detect illegal immigrants.

He added that the detained Haitians are being held in military posts until Immigration can return them to their country.

These are the helpless masses that the Jesuit infiltrator element wants to allow to enter the "good side" willy-nilly?

It's an amazing how you Haitians promote this illegal activity. On Haitians boards I go on, I constantly see Haitians saying i know a driver that will take you to Santo Domingo. Haitians and Dominians are involved in this illegal activity of smuggling people and all types of contraband.

However what baffles me is that Haitians promote people smuggling to the DR and then show outright disregard for Dominican laws. You guys cry foul when arrested and deported as if you have a God Given right to enter illegal to the Dominican Republic.

Secretly HAitians hate the DR and want to continue undermining it to make it a mess, desolation and ruinous just like there side. However we Dominican's love our country and we will not backdown in the face of your eggregious acts. You may have the upper hand again in the international community in your pursuit of attempting to act like perpetual victims but we won't relent and not become intimidated by you.

It's a start but it is not enough.

If dominicans are serious they should stop not just the movement of illegals but also of legal travel and the movement of goods.

Seal that border for good.......and that will show that the DR is serious.

La Republica Dominicana - the country that SEVERELY under-reports Dengue so that tourism isn't affected, and the US knows it. The cholera is a good smoke screen for RD, and another thing to blame the poor Haitians for. Screw RD politicians, generals, and ruling class. RD needs a revolution, and Haiti needs Titide.

@ yucahu; haitians don't hate DR SECRETLY....they hate it OPENLY.

even with the help DR provided after the earthquake....haitians do not appreciate the effort......believe it from a haitian who knows.

that is why nothing good can come out of any relations between the two people.

Sealing that border is the only solution.

Haiti does not have an army...so it is up to DR to take the initiative....and stop worrying about what other countries say.....it is none of their business.

WRONG! Yucahu!!! Dominicans hate Haitians, and I've watched it for almost 30 years. Haitians only hate the way they are treated by Dominicans, which is inhumane.

I feel sorry for those unfortunate anti-Dominican souls who will go through a lifetime without descrying consciousness of one's own benighted ignorance.

I for one don't hate Haitians, I like my father and grandfather before me are simply hardcore nationalists. We love DR. I just don't think ALL THESE DAMN HAITIANS should come in at one time. I don't care if we have controlled immigration like any other NORMAL country. But Haitians come over THOUSANDS at a time. Someone, somewhere who isn't Haitian or Dominican is going to read this and say OMG they are savages, they are animals, build a wall, let them kill each other. NO, you are wrong, Hatians are invading our country and we can see it everyday. We Dominican's are being ethnically cleansed from our neighborhoods, are valley's and cities. We need the help of the world so we can tame the masses, the hordes of Haitians trying to come over. WE can't do it without your help. Look at Miami, whole neighborhoods are now foreign homelands where only creole is spoken. That in inofitself is not a problem, but Haitians don't not intergrate, they segregate.

They carve out an area and make it Haiti, so what can we look forward too in DR, the fitfh column so-called Haitian DOminican's will agitate for more Haiti and less Santo Domingo. We can stop it, we shall stop it. Dominican's we can come together and take our country back.

Little by little things are being done but is it really enough? D.R Fernandez we all know lacks the cojones and heart to lead our nation but we have a man of honor whom i believe has the republics best interests and that is Senor Castillo. He is truly aware of this epidemic as his heart aches for nuestra Quisqueya!

To my understanding, the Haitians that are coming in are from the hardest hit earthquake areas and are looking for better opportunity in terms of work in order to send money back home. Its a human instinct to migrate, people ALL over the world migrate. Over here in Puerto Rico, there's are thousands and thousands and thousands of dominicans, alot are illegals. It happens everywhere.

HDP ,you are daft !! Of course there are POOR people throughout the world ,does that mean we have to let them all in ? Who decides who comes in ...the outsiders,or the country they are entering??

Also piti the percentage of illegal Dominicans in PR is NOT EVEN CLOSE to your people in DR and of those Dominicans in Europe ,US,PR who are there illegal ,those places have EVERY RIGHT to deport them although the comparison is so ludicrous because none of those places is poor like we are and none of them are being OVERWHELMED like we are so F.U. and your relative who fouled your DNA!
