SANTO DOMINGO. - The United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic on Monday rebuked WikiLeaks’ unauthorized publication of diplomatic cables, warning of their "dangerous implications for the lives of people identified in said documents."
Among the more than 250,000 leaked documents, many confidential and sensible, figure 1,675 sent from the U.S. Embassy in the country.
In a response by a request from news source diariolibre.com, Embassy press attaché Judith Ravin noted that they are “taking the required steps to prevent future security violations."
"The Department of State doesn’t comment on materials, including classified documents which may have been filtered" Ravin said, but cautioned that “although we cannot talk about the authenticity of the documents sent to the press, we can in fact talk about to the diplomatic practice of writing cables."
The diplomat added that those cables are sometimes preliminary and incomplete expressions on foreign policy and shouldn’t be perceived as definitive documents or that they reflect United States policy.

(Diario Libre could not access the content of the cables relating to the country, but the full list of cables is published on its webpage.) The leaks were sent to five newspapers, revealing that the United States requested personal data from its embassies and spied on prominent figures from other countries (including presidents), leading the White House to describe them as "dangerous and reckless".

The only way the Embassy personnel would be in danger is if they leak information about promoting or forcing unification , at that point all hell would break loose and all bets are off plus any Dominican politician involved would have to leave in a hurry!
