SANTO DOMINGO.- American actor Sean Penn in a National Palace luncheon hailed the country’s efforts in Haiti’s reconstruction and against the spread of cholera, for which he thanked president Leonel Fernandez.
Penn, who is visiting the country, said he was surprised by the Government’s work along the border it shares with Haiti to prevent the entrance of the disease into Dominican Republic.
The star of "Mystic River" was accompanied by the also actors Alastair Lamb and Louise Ivers, in the activity held in the National Palace in the Salon de Embajadores.

We deserve to be recognized by the world community for what we have done; the aid, the humanitarian relief and the support we have given to help our neighbor.
The world community deserves to be condemned for making a big show of promising support and then doing nothing.
Nice photo op, too.
Sean Penn is only looked upon favorably by the Ultra left. So now the majority of Americans who hear of this will now look at the program with a very jaded view.
The world community deserves to be condemned for making a big show of promising support and then doing nothing."
YESSSS!!!! Thank you Dominicans. I love you all.
Even what we did for the Haitians, did not, and will not make any difference.
There was a saying in DR when I was growing up: "Son como los Gatos, cierran los ojos para no ver quien le echa la comida."
Funny no mention of his good friend in Venuezela.
Sean Penn went to the DR to hide from the Cholera and he needed an excuse.
