Santo Domingo.- Moving at just 9 kilometers per hour a resurged Tomas is again a tropical storm as downpours drenched the capital early Thursday and continues throughout the southern coast.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami predicts hurricane force winds will strike the western part of Haiti starting Friday afternoon and strong rains for that nation as well as for the Dominican Republic on Saturday.

Yesterday the center of T.S. Tomas was located 490 kilometers southwest of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, while meteorologists caution that its slow movement in the warm waters of the western Caribbean will strengthen it even more.

The Emergency Operations Center issued a hurricane watch for the entire southwest region from Pedernales to Elías Piña, and cautions against flash floods, mudslides and abnormal tidal surges, while the NHC issued a hurricane warning for the coast of Barahona.

The Platano people in Jaquimeyes and the swamp dwellers of La Barquita had better pack quick.

But no, they're waiting for Leonel to find them another place to live.

Useless clones.
