SANTO DOMINGO.– The head of the Presidency’s Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission said Thursday that "time’s up" for the ministers and directors who allow irregularities  their government agencies.

Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) said president Leonel Fernandez’s instruction to halt payments which don’t adhere to Purchases and Contracts Law 340-06 shows an interest to fight official corruption.

He blamed the population’s perception of government corruption on the negligence of some officials in disclosing information on how they use the funds in their respective agencies.

The official, interviewed during the ribbon cutting for one of the Treasury Ministry’s Free Access to Public Information Office, said the Ethics Commission will follow up pursuit to guarantee adherence to the instructions he warns would be rigorous, and urged all ministers to be transparent by to the population access to information.
