Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Anti-corruption Alliance (Adocco) asked president Leonel Fernandez to order a revision of the “millionaire” assets of his Administration’s officials, among other public servants, which it considers an irritating ostentation with properties scattered around the country.
The entity’s request comes two days after the investigative journalist Nuria Piera revealed the sumptuous vacation homes owned by around 10 senior officials, who face mounting criticism from various sectors fed up with rampant Government corruption.
It said their wealth is in stark contrast to the poverty of most Dominicans and when the country hasn’t been able to meet Goals of the Millennium.
Adocco coordinator Julio Cesar de la Rosa suggested that the agent chief executive name a commission headed by Narcotics adviser Marino Vinicio Castillo, Justice minister Radhames Jiménez, among other officials, and Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodríguez and the pastor Braulio Portes, to determine the origin of the assets of the government officials and which don’t figure in their financial statements submitted to the Anti-Corruption Department.

How can the most corrupt be under pressure to control the corrupt? The idea that LF feels any pressure to do anything about his corrupt government is in some ones dreams. Leonel Fernandez is the corruption in DR he is the reason for all of it. I will say it every chance I get CORRUPTION is the reason for ALL of DR's problems.To point to ANY other cause is a distraction.Leonel Ferdandez and his PLD people and all of his fans on this site are the largest group of thieves DR has ever seen. Would need some serious hard headed leader to get this right and his life expectancy would be minimal ,of course any potential leader who demonstrates these qualities would quickly dis appear. Need a new peoples party with heavy security for the emerging leader but who has the will. Mmmm don't think Nuria will last long but good luck to him for exposing these corrupt one will certainly keep him busy as there are a lot of them.

With all of the numerous examples of corruption that have come from this government I don't understand what there is to be objective about. I will not stand down when pointing out the CORRUPTION that has and is destroying DR. because, the corrupt are the people in government, the cops, the military. people that work in the ayuntamientos. who is going to enforce a law, when the one in charge of enforcing the law are the corrupt.
a better Idea would be for use to post in a public place the names of the corrupt people in government. maybe a little public attention will make it more difficult for them to practice their illegal activities.
hey, I can get the names of a few, I even got pictures of some corrupt military and corrupt cops.

Leonel and DR.
we are looking at leonel like he is actually in control of the country. some older people I know told me how the country was in the era of trujillo. the lack of freedom. however if you connect to the internet and look up the history of Dominican presidents. you will see that during the era of trujillo there were presidents. to the outside world in was a democracy, but anyone that lived in the country knew that it was a dictatorship control by trujillo.
including balaguer was a president during the era of Trujillo.
it is obvious that people like leonel are just for show, they have not control over the country. they are just there so that the rest of the world thinks its a democracy. that why Leonel cant do anything to solve the corruption, he has no real power.
