The Dominican police and the Military are corrupt from top to bottom.
Right now if you have an accident on the road in the evening or night time you will be considered extremely lucky if the police will arrive at all. There is no money for gasoline.
Not to forget it is part of the narco world in the DR.
A inbred mafia that is still functioning with impunity.

First of all never believe an article that starts, "the government announced.
But let's say this one time they are telling the truth.
The question then should be, What were these 14000 Policemen doing till now?
From: United States, FREEPORT, Long Island.... (Look, beyond the words)
THis is not going to work. The technology is not there, how can the 14000 police oficers maintain control if the police department have to go to an internet cafe for information on a perp or to search for a criminal record and pay for the use of a computer...... the overhaul of the tools and technology required to do the job is needed.......Damn KEYSTONE COPS !!!!
12000 REASIGNED, these officers should be retrained and re-evaluated for the new positions. For all we know these are the ones that looks the other way

To those who wonder: a great number of those policemen are "lent" by Almeyda to politiqueros and other personalities, where they act as chauffeurs, gardeners, bodyguards and the like.
Part and parcel of milking the system taking the population as hostages.
14000 policemen is a lot. They could make a difference if they show up at all.
