SANTO DOMINGO.- The United States Embassy revealed that Ramon del Rosario Puente (Toño Leña ) coordinated large shipments of cocaine and heroin from South America to Dominican Republic, to then transport by boats and planes to Puerto Rico and New York.

It’s Diplomatic Note to request his extradition affirms that Toño Leña, who in the drug trafficking world also used the nicknames "El Maestro", "El Charley", "El Palo", "El Bate", "El Tronco", "El Muelú" and "El Francés" had been in that business for around 10 years.

It adds that in an recorded meeting, del Rosario describes his large shipments of cocaine and heroin from South America, and his successful transfers by boat to Puerto Rico, and then to New York.

“Many of these shipments contained hundreds of kilos of cocaine and heroin" the U.S. Embassy said. "Del Rosario Puente has been recorded saying that he has been coordinating drug contraband operations towards Puerto Rico and the United States for around three years, " but noted that one of two confidants told the DEA that Toño Leña has been trafficking drugs since around 2000.

The U.S. Embassy also requests the confiscation of Toño Leña’s assets as material evidence to prove his alleged crime, in his imminent arraignment by the U.S. Federal District Court  in Puerto Rico.

Going on for ten years under the coordinated effort of the Dominican Navy, Airforce and Military.
Also condoned by the DR government as part of its fiscal plan.

Regrettably , it has already been discovered and reported that there were indeed many corrupt officers in the armed forces who assisted this criminal ..it has also been reported that there have been many dismissals but I feel that if any government employee is dismissed for criminal activity , then he must lose his rights to a pension .

I guess the U.S. doesn't have a very good anti-narcotics agency since it allowed these shipments to enter its territory for 10 years. Hmmm, could we also have some people on this side of the pond looking the other way?

dont know about the other side of the pond.
the united states is a hugh country very hard to protect all its borders
must be 1,000 of drug deqals trying to enter the country every week from all sides this is where the money is.. not many drug agents on this side of the border have their hands out. and in case they have any ideas about that they will be facing many years in jail.
