NEW YORK.- The 51 year old Dominican Daniel Guzmán, who ran a pharmacy in Upper Manhattan, heads the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) list of the 10 most wanted fugitives in New York.
The federal agency wants Guzmán for allegedly swindling Medicare out of several million dollars, in reimbursements for ghost patients and prescriptions, as well as altered invoices.
The medicines prescribed to hundreds of people with different ailments, were never were dispatched by Guzmán, who was detained and released in August 2008, on an unspecified bail.
He was subpoenaed by the South District Federal Court for a new hearing in January 2009, but Guzman fled to become a fugitive in the list of the top 10 local criminals.
The other Dominican on the same list, but 5th is Juan Estrella, 39, who allegedly bilked hundreds of people in bogus real estate scheme.

Another proud Dominican. I hope they catch him soon so can be added to the US penal system and shipped out through our deportation processes.

But Tejeda hits it on the sweet spot: all ethnic groups are in on swindling Medicare and other programs. Russians, Italians, and so forth. You name an ethnicity and they have some level of participation. We need to keep a certain balanced perspective on these issues. So the newspapers just want to push buttons to drum up interest, but let's be a bit wiser.

few weeks ago u said the dominican republic was a great country? really!
when we treat our own people as slaves i dont think we are a great country..
when we deprive our young from a formal education, when 1,000 of dominicians spend 1/2 their lives in the dark we are not a great country.
when the police and the army bring their own crime wave to the people of the dominician republic we are for sure not a great country, when the people of the dominician republic need to hide behind bars in their own homes we are not a great country are we?

Medicare fraud is a crime of opportunity, it has nothing to do with ethnicity, if you find yourself with a cousin or friend that is already in it and tells you about it chances are you will get involved under the false idea that you will never get caught and that is a victim less crime neither is true .
Sooner or later you will get the feds knocking on your door and that will be the end.
