Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez, bowing to an overwhelming nationwide support for a better education, agreed to meet with the members of the Dignified Education Coalition today.

Fernandez and a Coalition commission are currently in a meeting which began at 12:40 p.m., to deal with its demand of 4 percent the country’s GDP for the education sector.

Although the meeting was set to start at 11 a.m., the invitees had to wait until after 12:30 when Fernandez concluded another meeting with officials of the economic area, when Education Minister Melanio Paredes and the Presidency’s Chief of Staff Cesar Pina, accompanied him to the gathering.

The ministers of the Treasury Vicente Bengoa, of the Economy Temístocles Montas, other senior Economic Cabinet officers and several lawmakers also participate in the meeting.

Previous to the meeting, Coalition spokesman and priest Mario Serrano said they want the President to instruct the officials to comply with the legislation which he himself signed into Law 13 years ago.

If they actually increase the education budget, the specific allotment of the funds should be defined and supervised.

also, they should not spend 80% of that in infracture which is what they do. so they can fool everyone. money should be destribute 80% to develop better education materials and well prepare teachers and technologies then 20% in infracture.

They can bow as low as they want. They are still never going to fund education properly.

and this is all over the hiking up of their college tuitions.
this made world wide news. they dont want the government to steal their future from them they need and want a college education.
