Santo Domingo.- The Institutionalism and Justice Foundation (FINJUS) today accused Congress of politicizing the selection of the Accounts Chamber’s judges, a decision it calls an institutional step backward for the country.
FINJUS vice president Servio Tulio Castaños said the Congress lost a great opportunity to distance politics from the Accounts Chamber, as the agency which audits the Dominican State. “The perception of the citizens is that this will be an Accounts Chamber which isn’t going to respond to Congress as the State controller entity, but to another power.”
He said FINJUS is concerned because the advance reached in the constitutional reform to separate the control agencies from the Executive Branch hasn’t been taken advantage of. “The CC is a technical, nonpolitical organ and until the political class understands that, society will regrettably have few expectations.”

New axiom:
If it's broke, that's OK, as long as it makes money for someone.
