Santo Domingo.- A low pressure system from a cold front continues causing higher than normal surf in the country’s Atlantic coast, for which the National Meteorology Office ONAMET maintains the warning for small craft to remain in port and possible coastal flooding in low lying zones.

It also warns swimmers against using the beaches until the waves return to normal.

ONAMET  said the system will begin affecting the country tonight with a slight increase in cloudiness, scattered showers, and some wind gusts expected tomorrow Saturday in the north, northeast and the Central Mountains.

This system will also keep the temperature from a low of 19, to a high of 27 degrees Celsius during next 24 to 48 hours, except in the Central Mountains, which can expect lows of around 10 degrees C.

I too was wondering what’s up with the higher surf these days. I am surprised to know that it is indeed the low pressure system from the cold front that is causing much of the issue in the Atlantic coast. I'm expecting some cargo, would that be a problem for companies like http://www.northamerican.com/ ? I think the high surf has subsided in the last three months. Howsoever, it is again increasing and those who use crafts better be aware of this so that they can remain in port. By the way, are there chances of flooding as in last December?
