SANTO DOMINGO.- The Justice Ministry has the last word on whether it will drop the charges against Ramon Antonio del Rosario Puente (Toño Leña ) to allow his extradition to Puerto Rico.

La Romana province prosecutor Jose Antonio Polanco affirmed that they must first drop the charges against del Rosario in order to extradite him. "But that’s already a decision of the Justice Minister Radhamés Jiménez,, who’s the one that directs all that process."

He said Jimenez and his assistants are working with the procedure in the case of "Toño Leña," wanted by the U.S. federal authorities in Puerto Rico, on charges of conspiracy to take major drug shipments to that island and of money laundering, in connection with the Puerto Rican murder convict Jose Figueroa Agosto.

It's a question of upping the ante.

Can Toño Leña afford the Attorney general?

To be continued..........

matador, you obviously have never been subject to the "Gringo fair trial system" you speak of. Not always so fair, but you are right, they would put probably put him away for life. Just remember it is the same PR system that allowed Figueroa Agosto to "escape" in the first place.

Shorty,
It was the PR prison system that Agosto escaped from not their local judiciary system. The local judiciary system convicted and sentenced him to over 100 years in prison, they are not responsible for his jailing.
P.S. The "gringo fair trial system" that you speak of is certainly not always fair or correct but it is the absolute best and fairest in the entire world. God forbid you should ever get into any trouble but if you do, you could do a lot worse than the "gringo fair trial system" of North America.
