Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez met in the National Palace yesterday with Haiti prime minister Jean Max Bellerive and plan to meet again next Tuesday with that nation’s president René Préval, and the Mixed Dominican Haiti Commission to combine the fight against the spread of cholera.

In a press conference after the meeting, Bellerive, accompanied by Dominican Public Health minister Bautista Rojas, said the meeting with Preval will take place in Dominican Republic next week.

He said the Haitian authorities want to join the Dominican Government’s efforts to control the spread of cholera, in addition to evaluating all actions adopted to control the disease.

In that regard, Bellerive noted that the health ministries of both countries will work together to see how both nations can combine their efforts to protect their populations.

“The only thing that matters to us, what we most want, is to protect our neighbors, not only the Dominican Republic. This disease was imported to Haiti, now we don’t want to re-export it to other nations.”

This meeting is a waste of time, because René Préval is a useless individual, plain and simple.

LF's talk with Jean Max Bellerive and president René Préval,

What is involved in these discussion are the working out of the parameters for the upcoming international largess in Haiti and the coordination, security and otherwise, and the Cholera epidemic. The year 2011 will be monumental in Haiti and potentially in DR. First, the Cholera Epidemic in Haiti has yet to reach its apex, but will do so sometime in this coming year. Second, the international investments to jump start the Haitian Economy and thus the recovery will commence as soon as the "acceptable" results from next months National Election are consecrated and respected by the numerous interests in Haiti. If conditions are acceptable, the international Community will begin the dispersal of funds forthwith. These funds, billions of dollars, will aid in Haiti's rebuilding for the next 5-10 years. The DR will gain economically from the Haitian Recovery. How much will depend on the working relationship/set asides.

Both men know that they are worthless so what better way to make each other feel good about oneself then to meet and talk useless things.
