SANTO DOMINGO. - A National District judge declared complex the case against Mary Peláez, Sammy Dauhajre, Ricardo Ivanovich Smester and Juan Jose Fernandez Ibarra, implicated in the case of the fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto.
Sixth Instruction Court judge Clara Almonte ruled for the Prosecution motion on the case is s, which extends the investigation eight months.
Assistant DA Fabian Melo said he’s satisfied with the ruling since they’ll have sufficient time to present more evidence against the defendants, a total of seven as civilians and as well as military whom have been interrogated so far, in addition to several fugitives, including Figueroa’s paramour Sobeida Felix.
Mary Peláez is being held in Najayo prison, on charges she collaborated with Figueroa, whereas Fernandez Ibarra, also in Najayo, is accused of owning the SUV the fugitive used to escape the dragnet of the antinarcotics agents.
The Justice Ministry accused Sammy Dauhajre of being Figueroa’s lieutenant and the intermediary between Fernandez Ibarra and the fugitive, in the purchase of three luxury vehicles. Dauhajre is Peláez’s brother-in-law.
Smester is accused of being one of Figueroa’s collaborators.
