Santo Domingo.- Several organizations will hold activities today to mark the death 37 years ago of the ex president of the Government in Arms, Francisco Caamaño, just days after he disembarked with a group of men Playa Carcoles, Azua province (south), in a failed attempt to wage guerrilla warfare against the repressive government headed by Joaquin Balaguer.
The first activity, “A flower for Caamaño," is slated for 10 a.m. in the entrance of El Conde Street, at the statue of the military leader of the April 1965 Patriotic Revolution.
Relatives, students and representatives of the Camaaño Foundation, the Caamañista International Society, the Foundation Lora Fernandez, and the Foundation Fernandez Domínguez, among others will lay wreaths at his statue.
At 6 p.m. a mass in Caamaño’s memory will take place in the San Juan Bosco parish, in the sector of the same name.

Francisco Caamaño is a glorious hero of the Latin American and Caribbean revolution.
At the moment, there is lamentably something of a lull in the class struggle of the DR proletariat against the DR bourgeoisie and US imperialists.
But strong and smart revolutionaries who hold Caamano in high honor are there.
The Dominican proletariat, the sons and duaghters of Caamano, will prevail. Neither the rotten, corrupt DR bourgeoisie nor the tyrannical and savage US imperialists can stop the revolution.

So was Juan Bosch and most of the Dominican population in 1962!
"After 23 years in exile, Juan Bosch returned to his homeland when Trujillo was assassinated on May 30, 1961. His presence in the national political life, as the Dominican Revolutionary Party presidential candidate, was a fresh change for the Dominicans. His manner of speaking, direct and simple, especially when addressing the lowest classes, appealed the farmers as much as the people from the cities. Immediately he was accused by the Church and by conservatives of being a communist, but in the electoral match of December 20, 1962, Bosch obtained a sweeping triumph over his main oppositor Viriato Fiallo of the National Civic Union, in what is acknowledged to be the first free election in the country's history."
While you were in mourning for Trujillo and trying to restore Batista!

I am sorry to say my knowledge of Dominican history is very limited. I do read and listen to the elders I meet but I am still lacking. So for most things I reserve my comment to the here and now.
So in this I will do leave the comments to those that either know or think they know. In my case I am neither.

Pepe,
Big difference. The heros of Brigade 2506 wanted to bring freedom and democracy to Cuba and fought the heroic fight even when faced with the treasonous actions by the Kennedys.
Caamaño wanted to install himself as supreme leader like Fidel and died begging for his life, offering to rat out his people in exchange.

He came from the elite. He had it all and decided to fight for a better dominican republic. He got sidetracked with the communist ideology and Fidel Castro's bearded bull. Yet if more Dominican's had intentions as pure as Caamano's during the time before he was led astray by the Tyranosor he coulda done a lot of good.

""Dead Commies make me happy." Anthony C, the cappie, says.
Given the tyranny and savagery of the cappies, Anthony C must be extremely happy.
"Dead, Commie Cowards make me almost orgasmic," Anthony C, the cappie necrophile, confesses.
Poor Anthony C, he can't get a climax, only an "almost."

So, Anthony C relates only to pictures and to dead bodies, not to people. Anthony C, do the pictures produce a climax or only an "almost?"

Anthony C, again you come one here and disrespect the men that have offered their lives to better their people's cause, people that you dare classify as cowards. I posit this: you can live three times what you already lived and you would never be half the man that Camaaño was, of that I'm certain as the sky is blue.
