8. Dominican in financial scheme in California
A Dominican resident in Folsom, California is accused of running an investment fraud scheme. In January he was indicted by a federal grand jury on fraud charges following an investigation by the FBI and the IRS. Prosecutors say his company, Fernandez Financial Inc took in US$7.5 million from investors by promising 36% annual returns for investing in the Fernandez Financial Investment Fund. Most of his victims were fellow Dominicans resident in the US. Investors wound up losing a total of $2.1 million, according to the US attorney's office. Fernandez, who pleaded not guilty in a Sacramento court, faces 30 years in jail.

Another fine example of the best DR can send to represent us overseas.
Why couldn't US be more selective and stingy with its issuance of visas? We have all of these people at US embassies and consulates with sociology and psychology degrees-why can't they weed these garbage out and spare us the embarrassment? Maybe they went to school with those dreaded DEA agents who watch porn in their laptops-you know, those guys that our friend JD Dominguez reminds us of.

Toma!!!! Dam perp, making the good Dominicans get bad rep worldwide! I swear I had some Nicaraguan guy that lives in Washington Heights tell me that all of us Dominicans are just a bunch of perps!! I did not entertain it, clearly he didn't know what he was talking about.
Although this guy pictured above is among the many who set this tone, in change foreign people think all Dominicans are bad.
