SANTO DOMINGO. - The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) began on Monday morning to apply polygraph (lie detector) tests to senior commanders, investigators and key units, with the help of the United States Embassy, and would include all personnel.

Intelligence and law enforcement agencies, mostly in the United States, use the resource to determine when a member of those entities lies or aren’t performing their functions, said DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón.

He said all of the antinarcotics agency’s officials will be subjected to the test, because its personnel will be required to work adhering to the truth.

"It’s no secret to anyone that that country is among the top allies in the war on organized crime, in this case a drug trafficking and money laundering case," Lebrón said when asked about the U.S. Embassy’s collaboration to conduct the test.

If this is actually done, AND SOMEONE RESPONDS TO THE RESULTS, this is a wonderful idea.

Well lie detectors are not fool proof, so i'm sure these guys are gonna fail, even if they are
"clean" on account they'll be so nervous. Do the test and do follow ups, in conjunction this should work as a deterrent, por lo menos asusta a 2 o 3.

A great idea whose time is long overdue.

I would very much like the idea of a non-government and impartial agency, particularly a foreign one, administering the tests-for obvious reasons.

This is a bad IDEA. It wouldn't work on Dominicans, 90% of the Polititians lie so much that they believe there own lie's. Which would make it impossible for the machine to work.

If these results are actually used to do something useful with then it is a good idea. If not it is yet another waste of time and money.

Stefano,
So true....

Curtain techniques can prove the test to be inconclusive and misleading.

Not that it matters in this case........the glitch is information obtained is still un-admissible in court.

Sounds great, but actual results?????????

I am just wondering why people have so many negative images toward DR's Government?

Do not blame people think this way, think about yourself what you have done and shown the people....
