Santo Domingo.- The deputy Pelegrín Castillo asked the Presidency to complete the file on Dominican Republic’s position on its maritime interests, sending to the United Nations, the Convention on Ocean Rights ratified by Congress.
In a statement the lawmaker said the country can obtain new marine spaces with friendly negotiations with the United Kingdom, the United States, Holland and Haiti.
He said Congress approved interpretative declarations on the Convention which must be sent to the UN.
Castillo asked the Government to expedite the exploration of the Atlantic’s seafloor for oil or natural gas with Spain, and to evaluate its geologic structure. “The preliminary results of the scientific exploration by the Spanish ship Hésperides in April last year were very interesting and promising.”

Sounds like it's worth the effort!
The boys from Cali need more room to move, so let's give them more waters.
As per international convention, we have right, premised on precedent, to define our soverign water border and control all the riches it may hold.
Enforcement, with our limited resources [especially now that we are down to just one Super Tucano], is a differnt story; however, we must emerge from our present status, become prosperous and strong and maybe this new territorial boundary holds key.
I support this action. It's good for our country and future.
