Santo Domingo.- The execution style murder of Omar Polanco Antigua, alleged head of operations for the Puerto Rican fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto’s network and the almost identical murder of the ex colonel Jose González Amado and other as yet unsolved aspects in the more than five month long scandal of drug trafficking and money laundering has tested the authorities resolve.

Also fugitive in the case are Figueroa’s paramours Sobeida Felix and Leavy Yadira Nin.

The Police yesterday confirmed that Antigua, gunned down on Saturday, was being sought in connection with the confiscation of 293 kilos of cocaine in suburb Villa Mella.

But despite that Police spokesman Nelson Rosario’s statement that from the onset of the seizure they announced that the now deceased fugitive was Figueroa’s confidant, the National District Prosecutor yesterday revealed he didn’t know that the man shot 13 times Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the department store Carrefour was the Puerto Rican convict’s lieutenant.

Alejandro Moscoso said it was Monday when the Police informed him that the murdered person was Antigua -who figures in the investigating commission’s organizational chart of Gonzalez’s murder- second in command in Figueroa’s network.

Tomorrow Thursday a National District Instruction Court judge will decide whether to declare complex the case against Mary Peláez, Sammy Dauhajre, Ricardo Ivanovich Smester and Juan Jose Fernandez Ibarra, linked to Figueroa.

More like lack of resolve. No one really wants it solved for obvious reasons. Makes me sad...

One word to describe it all.........FIASCO.

A fiasco (from Italian fiasco, "flask") is an absolute, abject or utterly humiliating failure.

Is this anything new? Lack of coordination? For the most part the handling of this case and many others like it is like watching a Keystone Cops movie. Did someone say "butter fingers".

While this is comical and saddening, it brings a smirk to my face, because one of these SOB's is dead.
